What do you mean? Like three cars for 25K?

Is that what you mean? I'd shoot for Hyundai these days...quality is very good and price is very good, both. But...I think you've lost me and maybe I'm missing what you are saying.

Why does everyone think Hyundai's are so great?

I'm no mechanic, actually far from it. But i've got a family member and a few friends that work for AAA (Automobile road side service) and they say that 60% of the calls are for Hyundai's.

best american made vehicle for me has been the chevy astro van...have burned through 4 and the least amount of mileage has been 250k and i still sold it for enough money to buy another one and it is still going strong at 450k...a total shame that they quit making them...when this engine finally gives out,i will simply pay the 2k to put a new one in...

astro1..300k
astro 2 same
astro 3 250k
astro 4 still kicking at 450k

all of the above had to have new transmission at various mileage, but none at less than 200k...

if it ain't smoking or leaking...add oil...

Man, HOW MUCH DO YOU DRIVE? ARE YOU DRIVING right now? In order to take a Chevy astro van four rounds for 1.3 million miles or so would mean that you are driving and sleeping and things like that.

Let's assume you got your first Astro in 1986, the year after they began producing them. That would mean that you are driving 50,000 miles per year. I guess that's not too far out, but it's a lot of miles.

a motorcycle for 5k

a truck for 5k

a car for 8k

3 reasonable vehicles for 18K with room left over.

gives me 3 rides and if one is down for repairs, no biggie....should always have two of the three running easily.

I have pretty much the 3 rides described above. I looked up the values. I have no problem keeping these running.

2007 Honda CRV with 175k miles is about 10k....1st wife's car

2000 f-150 4X4 with 128 k miles is about 3k

2001 150cc Vespa Scooter with 7500 miles is about $1500

all should run a long time more

About 14 k there for 3 rides that are reliable. I'd have no problem driving the truck from Hartford to Miami or the CRV for that matter. The scooter is well a scooter for local trips under 50 miles.

I could toss in another car to my fleet, like some 6k used Civic or something ....and have 5k left for a real motorcycle instead of just a scooter....or some other vehickle.

25-30 k buys me a virtual fleet of rides ! I don't have anywhere to put 5-6 cars at this time....so I exist with a 12 year old F-150 and an 11 year old Vespa 150 cc Scooter. They ain't worth 5k combined !....but they run fine !

So I'm at like 14-15 k with a decent 10 k car and a beater F-150 and a scooter that all run fine !

That's 14k out of my 30k fleet budget.

I could see some 5k 4cyl truck to pop my budget up to 20k, maybe blow 5k on a real motorcyle so were up to 24k....then blow another 5k on something like a 10 year old Civic

I then have a fleet of automobiles for 30k, right !

2007 CRV

2000 F-150

2001 Vespa 150 CC

some 4cylinder pickup truck

a real motorcycle for 5k

and some old beater Civic or something.... I'd have fucking rides jumping out my ass and decent ones ! I lost track of how many cars that would be ?.....If you have 6+ rides.....something will run !
