Mark Buehrle’s pitbull will also not be allowed in Toronto because of ban

One of the downfalls Mark Buehrle had to face when playing for the Miami Marlins was that his dog was not allowed in Miami-Dade county due to a pitbull ban. Buehrle says his dog, Slater, is very friendly and his wife Jamie even started a petition in Miami to end the ban. Now that Buehrle was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays in a blockbuster deal on Tuesday, at least he, Jamie and Slater can live in peace — or not.

Unfortunately for the Buehrles, pitbulls have also been banned in the province of Ontario, Canada since 2005. Mark and Jamie might have an even bigger issue on their hands in Canada, since that means they would have to make a long commute from Toronto over to the nearest province, which is Quebec.

As we learned from his harsh criticism of Michael Vick nearly two years ago, Buehrle is a big time dog lover.

He’s not the type of person who is just going to leave Slater behind in Florida, so I’m sure he’ll either get used to the drive or fight to be able to keep his dog in Toronto. As Kevin Kaduk of Big League Stew pointed out, another petition is pretty much inevitable.

That's the same thing people say after their pitbulls attack somebody. Don't like the ban, get a less dangerous dog breed.

I also don't like the fact that he and his wife tried to end the ban of pitbulls in miami. If they were successfull, and even one pitbull attacked and killed/hurt someone, that blood would be on their hands. I really question their morals.

Excuse me? Because we want to keep our children and smaller dogs safe from a breed of dog that is generally recognized as being unpredictable in its behaviour??

Think for a second before you post such crap

Chop, there are lots of limits in society to personal freedom, whether we like it or not. That's what happens when safety concerns override freedom. My province happens to believe that this is the case with pit bulls. We don't have to be called dumbfucks because of it.

It's not a nation of 'little people'. They're the neighbors north of the border that following 9/11 were ready to help in any way they could. And did.
