i know in highschools they provide counseling normally when a suicide or death happens to prevent it from becoming like this

I think the problem with the services that some schools do provide is that they focus on "curing" or easing the grief, I guess kind of like a temporary fix. They don't focus enough on solving the problem. It's sad to see kids this young take their own lives, it's sad to see anyone take their own life, but these kids hadn't even had a grasp of the real world yet.

When I was a junior in high school, 3 people in five weeks committed suicide after 3 suicides and 2 other deaths within a year.

FAIRFAX, VA. FAIRFAX, Va. (AP) _ Two days of student assemblies are being followed by a meeting with parents and special assignments to guidance counselors as officials at a suburban Washington, D.C., school grapple with a suicide problem.
Since school began a month ago, three students have killed themselves in unrelated incidents at Annandale High School.
Last year, in a highly publicized incident, two students from the school drove to Pennsylvania and committed suicide together. Another student killed himself a week later.
The death of a senior in an automobile accident this summer and the accidental carbon monoxide death of a former student early last month also have left students shaken, said school officials.
An assembly was held Wednesday for freshmen and sophomore students in the 2,300-pupil school, after juniors and seniors discussed the tragedies Tuesday.
The gatherings were called following the self-inflicted gunshot death Monday of William Wakefield, a senior.
On Sept. 30, Shane Benson, another senior, took his own life, and on Sept. 17, Eric Ragland, a junior, committed suicide.
At the seniors' meeting, which lasted more than two hours, students went to the stage to discuss their feelings and offer support to each other, according to Fairfax County schools spokeswoman Dolores Bohen.
''We have no link between the youngsters. They don't seem to be kids who knew one another and they're not academically the same,'' said Bohen.
But she said county officials have assigned seven additional counselors indefinitely to assist the school's regular staff and to be available for students and parents.

''The school is stunned,'' said Myra R. Herbert, who coordinates the county suicide prevention program.

First off someone doesn't die of suicide like it is a natural cause or something. They make a choice to just check themselves out. Second we aren't talking about people that are clinically depressed and it is an issue they will have to be medicated, counseled and deal with for the rest of their lives. These are kids who can't deal with peer pressure, social behavior, popularity and consequences for their actions. Being bullied or teased for your own mistakes and behavior is not a legitimate reason to take your own life. I hate that people martyr these kids who take their own lives and try to say bullying is to blame. All it does is make more and more kids go out and kill themselves because they feel like that is the only way some attention can be brought to their own little private hell they are going through.

Because American youth have become self entitled. I think about my parents and my grandparents and the issues they had to go through going to school and it far out weighs the shit these Iphone and Facebook kids had to deal with. During my parents time kids had to deal with racial integration and I could just imagine how hard it could have been for a quiet good natured little girl having to go to a school where people were waiting out front picketing and protesting her and her classmates calling her a ni**er and spitting on her and throwing stuff at her. They had to endure that shit everyday but yet the thought of suicide never crossed their minds. The same thing with the obviously gay or lesbian kids of the 70's and 80's that were called faggot or dykes and the acceptance and tolerance for a same sex relationship wasn't as strong then as it is today.

I read some story last month about some chick who posted her suicide note on you tube and then killed herself saying that everybody failed her. But in reality the girl did some slutty things and then people let her have it at school and on facebook and she even switched schools to escape her slutty rep but she couldn't. So she killed herself because her own actions opened her up to judgement. Funny thing is your sex life only matters when you are in high school. The second you leave high school the amount of sex you had or the lack of sex you had no longer matters. Nobody calls a 25 year old girl who likes to fuck a slut.

For every age group, estimates are that 90% of everyone who dies by suicide have some mental illness

heres a news flash,,, did everyone know that there is no such thing as anorexia in ethiopia,,, lol there is no such thing as shift disorder syndrome in kenya, lol, there is no such thing as depression, ptsd, shyness disorder, hyperactivity, attention deficit disorder, al of those things are made the fukup to sell drugs and create a society that ultimately lives in fear of taking a shit,,

when you over examine life it looks monolithic,,, the reality is weve sold out our country for a buck and the oversaturisation of advertisers,,, who constantly are the ones creating this low self esteem environment, lol

the sad part is 95% of these kids in the 1980s and before wouldnt of comited suicide, they would of cried themselves to sleep a few times and learned from their teasings,,, and changed their ways or just grown up and avoided these things,,,
