With all the stories of people finding money, was just curious what's the most cash you have found that wasn't yours and you kept it.

Years ago i was a Maint. Supt. at a big apt. complex near LSU campus, back in the big cocaine days. Had a maint guy who went into a recently vacated apt and saw a lump in the closet under the carpet. Pulled it back and found 28K. Dumbass turned it into the office mgr who never even called the police. I was sick for a month....lol

Office Manager certainly got a nice bonus that month. I would be sick as well.

I think $40 years ago, I found a $10 spot a few months ago, not very much in paper money really.

I have been bidding on storage auctions like you see on storage wars the last few months on my time off.
I bought a unit for $380.
Found over $700 in cash in one of the boxes.

Good thing. Because if it was not for that the rest of the unit was virtually worthless.
Once I found that money the rest of the locker went straight into the dumpster.

Found 500ish almost in a trail leading to an empty parking spot after the bars let out. Probably some drunk ass digging in his pockets to get his car keys. He paid the price for driving drunk even if cops did not get him.

How exactly do these auctions work? Do you get to peek into the storage area or is it just blind luck?

Just like the show.
You can peek with a flashlight for about 20 seconds but you cant put any part of your body in the unit, and you cant touch anything.

I was one of the first tee times out about 3 yesrs ago and when I got in my golf cart there was a color screen, garmin range finder. At the time it was $399. I assume somebody left it in the cart the day before and prob didnt realize it unti their next round.I kept it, kinda still feel bad about it. My dad retired a year ago and plays golf 5 days a week so I gave it to him

When I was in grade-school, I remember my mother worked the pull-tab booth at the festival for the school/church....so she had inside info on what prizes were left to win.. etc... well at end of the weekend they had sold every last pull-tab and one of the $750 winners sold that day had not been turned in for the prize....

me and my friend basically looked at eachother and then started running around the festival dumping garbage bins out near the pull-tab booth and going through them like crazy like we were playing in leaves in the fall. LOL...u honestly would be surprised how many clear winners people through out.. pull-tabs even have a line through it if winner.. but to no avail...

I found the winning $750 ticket!!!!.. Jackpot right? ? ? :think2:

The church/school decided it wasn't fair (even though I was honest and said I found it) to pay me the winner so they donated it to the school in my name. LOL :ohno:

talk bout being bummed when you are a 5th grader.. haha

I used to go to this delicatessen and they sold the lottery and they had a box where you threw away your losing tickets. I always scavenged through it when a buddy and I would go there after work to play scratchers.

I would find tickets that weren't scratched off all the way all the time. Found a lot of smaller winners in the $2 to $10 range due to people not understanding or paying attention to the tickets. One day I found a ticket it was one of those kind where you had a second chance area to scratch if you didn't win on the main board and the person didn't scratch the second chance portion of it so of course I did and found a $50 winner!

Needless to say after that when I would go in the box would be empty, so much for my hidden goldmine of opportunity.

Stolen piles of cash - not kidding...

Most of the money I find is my own that I have misplaced. Wife found 1200 in a pant pocket of mine a year later after Vegas trip...

$2200 in total when we were kids. 10-year old or so. Found in the dirt and in bad shape. My friend's sister sent it to Ottawa or some where. As long as the serial numbers could me made out, they would honor the amount no matter how bad shape. I remember some bills were like confetti. Several months later we got a check in the mail for teh $2200. It was lower than what we thought we were going to get but at that age it was a ton of cash.

When I worked at a restaurant in Chicago one of the Mexican busboys(who probably made about 18k per year) found one of those zippered bank bags with $15k in it under a table. He turned it into a manager, 3 days passed and the guy came back for it saying he had just been to Vegas and won a bunch of $$$. He didn't even leave a reward(according to the manager).
