Thinking of taking my first trip to Vegas for the opening week of march madness this year . Looking for advice on where to stay , things to check out . I will be going with my wife and we are both poker players so a good poker room in our hotel is preferred . Any advice or info would be appreciated , thanks .

Never played poker in Vegas, so can't help you there.

Few things:
1) Hotel budget?
2) Book ASAP, march madness is 2nd busiest time in Vegas.
3) Are you renting a car, could play into decision about where to stay
4) How important is being able to sit and watch all NCAA games and to bet on them?
5) Anything else you guys want to do? Shows, etc?

How do you feel about the mgm grand ?

1) Didn't really set a budget . I just used expedia and looked at flight and hotel deals and looking for the best value . Looks like the best value might be the mgm grand at $1100 (flight, hotel, taxes and fees) for 7 days 6 nights .
3) Would I need to rent a car ? The location of the mgm seems like everything I would need is pretty close .
4) not very important , I think I would like to go over to a good sportsbook(bellagio) a couple of the days and bet on the games .
5)my wife might like to see a show so I was thinking ka which is at the mgm grand .

I wouldnt rent a car between valet and parking it wont be worth it cabs are cheap enough.
Don't bet at Bellagio - Bad lines there and at Czar's good places to watch the games though.

I stayed at the MGM once huge hotel took forever to get some where.

Stayed a Paris last visit nice hotel - Smaller than expected so easy to get around. Didn't like the casino or Book.

Flamingo is old but has a good pool

Don't use expedia it's a rip off. Your better off booking things yourself through the airline website and hotel website.

I wouldn't limit the place you stay based on having a poker room. No matter where you stay your within a 5-10min walk of a Great poker room. Whether it be MGM, Aria, Bellagio, etc. As far as a car rental I wouldn't bother.

If you plan on watching the March Madness games in sports book, get there EARLY to get a decent spot. Try to bet your games while other games are going on, the counters become a mad house at the ends of games.

book using the hotel websites, renting a car is a big hassle and not worth it unless going off the strip like to red rock or lake mead

If you use a discount website they can't comp any of the nights, just a heads up if you play warrants comps

no need to rent a car imo.. vegas is bout walking and/or cabs.. its half of the fun while there is hopping from casino to casino and no real reason to drive to them.

March Madness is gr8 time to be in Vegas..lots of poker action..; agree with get your bets down while you can; a lot of amateur bettors who will take 5 minutes to make two $10 bets...gl

Unless you're going with the wife, take that $1100 and get yourself a flight to SJO and a room at the Sportsmans. Better than Vegas any weekend.

There's not another Vegas and never will be. For many different reasons. Starting with Gambling options, variety of top notch Eateries and Women, but you can get Women anywhere.

I played poker at Monte Carlo a few years back and it was great...not the biggest or fanciest but was good enough...play 1-2 NL and wash a fish fest other than a few locals, who are obvious...stayed at New York New York, dont reccomend
