Went for a week on my 21st Birthday to the Mirage. Lost 1,000 on casino games (roulette, slots, a few others) in the first 3 hours. Good news was that my parents had paid for the whole trip for my friends and I so it wasn't too bad. Walked over to the sportsbook and made some nba bets that won me over 3,000 that night. Since then (6 years ago) I haven't touched a table game.

I was young around 20. Must have been 1985 or 1986. Out of work had about $1,500 to my name. I took greyhound from Chicago 1 way for around $80 mid November. I ended up staying in Vegas until December 29th. I stayed at the old rooms in back at the Stardust. Couldn't beat the player's rate I got of $21 per night. I never really increased my bankroll but I held my own for a while. Started to dwindle mid December. I got to a point where I had around $100 or less. I had to choose between a sports bet or a room. I had like $50 bucks left I made a crazy 6 team mixed sports parlay for like $20 to win $570. My first 3 games win in mynext 2 were looking good and the final leg was the L.A. Kings in hockey. I remember trying to sell 25 to 50 % of my ticket after the 1st 3 legs were in but no takers. Leg 4 and 5 came in, people were wishing my luck. It was late. All action for the day was completed except for the L.A. Kings game. Sportsbook at the Stardust was pretty empty. I needed the Kings bad, I had this ticket and $25 to my name. I couldn't find anyone to buy in. I hit it. The winnings bought me another 3 weeks thru Christmas. But I ended up busted. I ended up calling mom and she purchsased an AMTRAK ticket for me back to Chicago.

Mine was New Years 011. Went with $275 in my pocket. After i got off the plane my daughter took me to a North LV casino, Caliente or something like that to eat. After the buffett i saw their 2 table poker room. Told my daughter id call her to come get me. 45 mins later i was dead broke standing outside waiting for her. Spent the rest of the week staring at the walls in her house. Never saw the Strip until i was on the way to the airport to go home. O and it snowed everyday ............

Was in college and in my early 20's. Me and a group of guys, around my same age, decided to fly to Vegas and make a week of it. Long story short, we left around a 20,000 loser, losing most of all of it playing black jack. I remember looking at the 3 other guys and saying, we should have just pooled the money together and put our names in a hat, the person whose name is pulled out, we buy a used BMW for them. Instead we left with no BMW, just empty pockets and lots of memories.

A few friends and I drove overnight in college from Denver and met a few marine friends from San Diego. We got there at 7am and couldn't check in to the hotel until 2pm so without sleeping, I pulled out $200 and started drinking at the blackjack tables at the MGM. Fast forward to 4am the next morning and I believe blackjack is the world's easiest way to make money, I have about $3k in chips at the Bellagio and my friends are literally begging me to cash it in and go do something, anything else. I oblige, quickly get very tired and go back to the room, crash until about 5pm. 3 days later I'm back to zero and it's time to drive back. Don't remember a lot but found out some fun little tidbits on the ride home. It was a great time.

earliest trips were the best !

first one was maybe 1978 ( age 15) or so with Mom as a stopover ( 2 days) on the way to Hawaii...I was a big 15 year old and could play the slots !

I later moved to the San diego area after High School ( from CT)....but I'd been studying BJ counting books since about age 14.

By about 1984 I was making decent money installing AC around the Oceanside, Ca area.

I go to Vegas ( 300 miles) for the weekend, beat the El Cortez out of $1,000....do the same the next weekend !

I soon buy a new Toyota pickup truck !

those were the days ! The dealings in plants were nice too !

I won a contest selling mutual funds back in 1969. Company was flying all winners out to Vegas on a chartered jet out of Newark for a Thursday to Sunday junket at Caesers Palace. I took $400 with me. Those were the days of $1 black jack. There were hardly any slot machine, and the ones that were there were one coin. By saturday we were broke and asked my wife's aunt to wire us some money. Later I found out that everyone on the trip had a $500 credit limit. Good thing I found out after the fact.

Since mutual funds and new issues (IPO's) were in their hey day, the company went all out to show us a good time. We had dinner shows every night. First it was the Stardust and Lido de Paris, followed by the Sands, and finally the best one at Caesers. Had my first Caesers salad made from scratch at our table. Andy Williams was the lead entertainer.

I never saw so many celebrities in my life. Sonny and Cher were at the Caesers pool, and you could see her cesarian section as she was wearing a biikini. As we left the pool, we bumped into the 5th Dimension as they were going to visit Sonny and Cher.

When we were at the Sands, we left the show early as we didn't want to watch the 2nd act. Started watching a craps table, and saw a woman throw down $5 on box cars "for dinner" and wouldn't you know it, box cars came in. Started walking around and heard a lot of action coming from another craps table. We went over to see what was going on. Turns out, a bunch of guys from NYC were beating this table for $60,000. Crowd was so big you couldn't get near the table. found out the next day these guys won over $100,000.

Tom Jones was appearing across the street at the Flamingo and he was the hottest entertainer around. Some guys wifes wanted to see TJ and the guys went up to the matre de to get some seats. They offered him $100 for some seats and he told them that would get them a seat on the chandelier. LOL!
