not trying to sound like a dick, but if you don't want to risk getting shot and killed, don't break into someone's house.

I wouldn't hesitate to shoot someone who broke into my house to protect my family. And if they died, I wouldn't lose sleep over it.

Lot of things dont add up in this story. I dont have a problem shooting home invaders of any sort, but when you go to extremes to cover it up then it makes you wonder what actually happened. Maybe its just me but i have a hard time believing that after she heard her friend shot multiple times then dragged off to the basement she just came casually walking down the stairs..Then laughed at him after she had already been shot once? I think they should be checking this guys house and yard for more bodies.....

You have every right to defend you and your home. You do not have the right to shot the girl in the head when the threat is gone and she is laying there dying. The guy was nuts, he said she was laughing at me after he had already shot her once and she fell down the stairs? Not the mention the facial evidence that was lot by waiting 24 hours to have your neighbor call the cops

Unless he was completely retarted and phoneless, which is possible since he was an ex-state dept employee who prolly doesnt qualify for an Obamaphone, he was thinking of covering it up the second after he started dragging the guys body to his basement. No sane person would want to mess up a crime scene and make it even harder to prove his story. And it says nowhere that he asked a neighbor to report it. He asked him if he knew a good lawyer and then LATER asked him to call the police. The police went on a suspicious person call...nothing anywhere says he ever mentioned he killed anybody until after the police were there and started questioning him.

Perfectly okay. It's easy to sit back and second guess what he did, but in the heat of the moment, when you don't know if the people invading your home are themselves armed, you must protect yourself.

is any property worth a human life??? seriously?

Someone comes in your house and you are supposed to know they just want your.property? And if you just shoot once who is to say they don't pull out a gunand shoot you back. Two less pieces of shit in the world. Let that be a warning for others considering theft. Grow a pair.

I'm way out to left wing, especially when it comes to the crazy gun laws that y'all have down there in them United States of 'merica, but these two "kids" got what was comin' to 'em. No joke. I don't get the outpouring of grief. What about the poor guy who killed them? Where is the outpouring of grief for what he had to go through? Killing two people can't be an easy thing to deal with.

White women syndrome here, all the way.

This is exactly what I thought. If you break into someone's house and hear a couple gun shots you don't stroll down the stairs, you get out of there. If someone shoots you and goes to shoot again and the gun jams, you don't laugh. Chances are you're hurt pretty bad to laugh.

I hope he fries.

I was about to post the same reply. This was exactly my take on it. Very suspicious. The truth will probably never be known, but I am guessing after a full investigation, this guy's story won't add up.

I'm betting the autopsy will show these two kids were high as heck on some kind of drugs. Can't reason with someone who's on drugs, they're unpredictable. Sad they died at a young age, but you don't break into a man's home.

"Minnesota law allows people to use deadly force when protecting their homes - but prosecutors claim he used more than necessary"

To me this makes no sense. If your allowed to use deadly force, then what was unnecessary? thats like saying, this is an all you can eat buffet. But wait... you ate too much
