APCowboys linebacker Jerry Brown has died in an early morning car crash, and Cowboys nose tackle Josh Brent has been charged with intoxication manslaughter in Brown’s death.
The police department in Irving, Texas, has confirmed that Brown died in a crash early this morning and Brent (whose legal name is Josh Price-Brent) was charged.
“Officers at the scene believed alcohol was a contributing factor in the crash; therefore, Price-Brent was asked to perform field sobriety tests,” a statement from the Irving Police Department said. “Based on the results of the tests, along with the officer’s observations and conversations with Price-Brent, he was arrested for driving while intoxicated. He was transported to an area hospital for a mandatory blood draw. Once it was learned that the passenger of his vehicle had died as a result of the crash, Price-Brent was booked into the Irving City Jail on one count of Intoxication Manslaughter.”
Brown and Brent were friends and teammates at Illinois before becoming teammates again with the Cowboys. Brown was 25.

Was out in Dallas last night - bunch of strip clubs and taxis. I'm here hungover and able to talk about it.

Girl I took out last night is at a funeral for a friend today - hedge fund manager who hit at tree at 70mph drunk in a 30 zone a few days ago.

Now these guys.

No one should drink and drive, but if you are making $5000+ per day hire a damn driver.

Drunk drivers need to be stripped of their license for life. Enough of this bullshit. People need to take action now.

A deterent to drunk driving might be to have vehicles auto test for alcohol impairment prior to allowing the driver to start the car. Rather than disabling the vehicle for impaired testing results, I propose there should be a signal sent to law enforcement to come investigate the alleged impaired driver. Allowing the car to start regardless of the test result will avoid situations such as :

a car being disabled based on a faulty testing system.
emergency situations in which driving a car is needed regardless of impairment

maybe this has been proposed before, I don't know... but anything is better than what we have in place now. which is nothing

I dont know what world you live in, but tonight I'll be headed out to the bar, it will be full, the parking lot will be full, most people will be lit up, and they are all going to drive home, me too. That's just the way it is. You do realize that late at night(on weekends), something like half the drivers on the road have been drinking, dont you? Think about it, the whole city is filled with thousands upon thousands of slightly, to more than slightly trashed people. It's the norm, at least where I live(mn).

So just stop with the shock and horror at the thought that people drink and drive.

I understand but they need to treat it more seriously. If the drunk driver only killed themselves it would be fine but most of the time they take out an innocent victim. You're acting like the behavior is right because most people do it.
