Well I found the perfect car for our travels. Unfortunately, we made the decision last night. Went today to make arrangements to buy and they sold it yesterday. I am having a lot of trouble deciding which would be better for us

All are the same make and model.. Here are best 3 remaining deals

Options:

Year Miles Price upgrade
2010 32k $26k Yes - Upgrade includes Navagation, Premium Sound, 4 wheel drive, slight improvements to looks, sunroof
2009 18k $25k No
2008 40k $19k No

Since you are going to be traveling, I would go with the 2008 model. You will take an ass cutting on the other 2 models if you try to sell it due to the miles you will be putting on it.

There are no two bigger rip offs on automobiles than sunroof and navigation unless you just like the way it looks and want to drop the money on it.

The navigation on my phone is the best I have seen.

completely agree on the sunroof. I never use it, don't eve like it....

navagation. It's nice to have mounted in the console instead of the wind shield but agree it's not worth the cost it inflates the car...

That's why the "upgraded package" cars didn't make my list. This one was an exception because its listed much lower than what KBB had the retail value. 6k+.

I don't disagree we this as I am sure defying has a phone or a gps already so having navigation is not really an add-on that is important ...

i think if the 2008 is attractive enough, maybe get that and drive for the year or 2 traveling and then trade that in towards what you really want.. especially since now you feel as if you are "settling" a bit since the car you wanted is gone... So don't spend an insane amount on other fill-ins to accommodate... heck if you can wait a week or two that lot will be full of new cars just like the one you lost I bet and/or goto a different dealer/online :)

okay, maybe I can help myself by asking a specific question

2wd vs 4wd
whats the difference?

If it is a car, then the difference will be handling. It would really be all-wheel drive, meaning all four tires have power going to them at all times, if it is, in-deed, a car. If it is SUV or truck, it will have a switch to go from 2 wheel drive to 4 wheel drive. 2 meaning, 2 wheels have power going to them. Also, if it is a car, front-wheel drive will be better for inclement weather especially if you will be traveling north this time of year.

Good luck & safe travels.

If you want some useless junk and fireworks, stop at South of the Border on the Carolina line.

I like stuff fully loaded

but if you're going to put a lot of miles on the car, I would suggest you start with the low mileage vehicle

honestly bro.. get the 2008.. 1 yr difference in age and price is significantly lower.. ur milage will become a thing of the past very quickly anyway as u have plenty of plans to travel.. so 22k miles is nothing when u might put on 40-50 in the next 2 yrs...

just my opinion anyway

40k miles is nothing vs. 18k or zero. Any new car should easily go 250k b before turning to a piece of crap...unless it takes you 15+ years to get to 250k.

I buy a car with no intention of selling it within at least 5 years.

to thr best of my recollection I've bought 3 new cars/ trucks in my life and 15-20 used ones. I don't think I ever bought a used car with under 100k miles on it.

thanks for the advice and just allowing me to talk through it.

Made the decision and bought the 08. Came down to payments: $150 less a month. Hate the color but whatever. Otherwise perfect for what we needed.

Bank Valued it at 24,500. Bought it for $19,500.

much appreciated

awesome man and I think u made the best decision overall that u could .. good to see the car has some value above market for u too.. saving the $150 a month is a huge benefit too.. I used to work as a loan officer and advised clients often on finance and what to do with the savings they ended up getting with a refinance. I would encourage u to do the same as I would them.. Take that $150 a month(that you already were considering as gone out of monthly income anyway) and seriously put it away.. if u must open a brand new bank acct for only that even. Transfer the money there each month just as u were making the payment yourself to the bank for the car. Over 3 yrs u will already have $5400 and plenty to put down on the next car and/or take a vacation/ pay bills/ etc and it will be something u wont regret at all ever! <><>

consider it man.. I really do wish people would do something that easy and help themselves... if u already save, dont let this other 150 deter u from what u naturally do on your own :)

What was the car anyway ?

a ten year old car can look almost new. Don't change rides too often.
