Any of you guys play fantasy golf? I have a group of friends that love it even though a lot of them are not big time golfers. I'm wanting to join next year. It's actually for a pretty good chunk of money. Anywhere on the web that offers great fantasy advice/input?

From hearing them talk about it, you pick anywhere from 3 to 5 golfers every week with a salary cap. A million dollar salary cap. Tiger would probably cost you $600k whereas a lesser golfer might cost you $75k.

I'm in one where each team costs $100. There are 210 teams and each week pays $150 and the top 30 teams at the end of the year finish in the money with 1st place paying around $2500.

You get a total of 25 points to pick your team with the top 5 players are 6 pointers and you work your way down to the top 100 to Q school qualifiers 1 pointers. Once you pick your team for the year, your stuck with them.

Each year I have 3 teams and every year I win a week and finish in the money with atleast one team.

Good times for old guys like me.

Sounds like a great time! I am guessing it is run at the local course? Unfortunately, in todays world, you can not trust many people to hold 21k and expect it to be there in the end. Played in too many pool leagues that had no cash when it came time to pay out.

anywhere in particular you look for information as to who to pick or do just rely on your own insight?

It is run by 1 guy who is a member of a high end private course in the area. He is also an ex major league baseball player and his family owns a very big business in town. He emails spreadsheets on everything from teams to money and keeps everyone informed very well. If it was anyone else, I would be worried

Sec - Almost everyone takes Tiger so there goes 6 points out of 25. The key is to have guys do well that not very many teams pick. I try and take guys who had a tough year last year and you can get cheap. KJ Choi -1, YE Yang -1, Lucas Glover -1, Jason Day -2, Steve Marino -1 just to name a few. No trades or repicks if a player you pick gets hurt or doesn't show up. Your stuck with your team.

Last year I had one team win a week for $150 and one team took 17th overall and that paid $392. Cheap entertainment for an entire golf season.
