Hi, guys. Need some help with my laptop. Seems I have a virus of some type and get a crash dump/blue screen every other day or so. I have been using the safe mode to restore to a past date but now the screen returns all the time be even though I restore to a "good" date. Can this be fixed or do I need to move on to a new laptop. Appreciate the help,
Moosh

Are you experiencing the blue screen of death and want to know how to fix it? The blue screen of death or Windows Stop Error is a common error that is caused whenever Windows senses a software, hardware or driver error preventing your operating system from running properly.

If you are lucky, a simple reboot will fix the BSOD. However, if simply rebooting your computer does not fix this problem then you will need to do some diagnosis to resolve the problem. Here are a couple of things that you can do to fix your BSOD.

Fix Blue Screen Of Death By Removing Faulty Hardware
If you have recently installed new hardware on your PC, this may be a reason for the BSOD. Simply power off your computer and remove the new hardware. Boot up your CPU again and see if this fixes the Windows Stop Error.
If by removing the hardware has fixed the BSOD, then you know that the new hardware you installed was either not installed properly or is not compatible with your system. However, if have not recently installed new hardware or removing the hardware did not fix the problem, your PC most likely has a system error.

Fix Blue Screen Of Death By Doing A System Restore
A blue screen of death may occur if you have recently installed a faulty software or application on your computer. To reverse the negative effects of this program, you will need to do a system restore. System restore is a function on your computer that will restore your PC to a previous point in time before the BSOD.

However, if a System Restore did not bring your computer back to a functional state, then you may need to use your OS (operating system) disc to reinstall the missing or damaged files.

Here is how to reinstall the missing or damaged files causing the BSOD with your OS disc:
1. Insert OS disc into your PC and restart your CPU.
2. When it asks you to press any key to boot from CD, then push any key.
3. After a minute or less your PC will ask if you want to Repair, Continue, or Quit.
4. Hit Enter to Continue and it will go to the agreement document. Hit F8 on your keyboard to pass it
5. You will then be prompted with Install, Repair, Delete Partition, or Quit
6. Locate the largest Partition(which is your operating system) with your keyboard keys and push R for repair.

Once you have started to repair operating system for those missing or damaged files, your PC will take several minutes to fix the problem. After the repair is finished, use your computer like normal and see if you get the BSOD. If you still do get the blue screen of death, then you may need to take further action.

85% of all blue screen of deaths are associated with a damaged windows registry(WR). To repair and to prevent future BSOD, it is highly recommended to repair your windows registry with a registry cleaner(RC).

Repair Blue Screen Of Death Guaranteed By Using Registry Cleaners
The WR acts as the brain behind your computer and is a crucial component that contributes to your PCs performance. The purpose of a RC is to help repair and fix all the errors that have accumulated throughout the years of use and restore your computer back to its original "out of box" state.

Transfer everything you need to an external hard drive and do a factory restore.

if it is happening as much as it is and you know for sure you havent installed new hardware or software since that (restoring to earlier date) everytime..then it sounds like your computer is overheating often to me. Most computers nowadays have a fail-safe to save the motherboard and other hardware to reboot and give those error messages.. if you are lucky you can maybe capture it and/or write it down so you can google more on the error code it gives you (would diagnose your problem for you)...

First off I would get a spare hard drive and copy as many files as you can to it so no matter what, you never lose your info.. you can do a virtual clone of your hard drive now also if you would like

It is possible (likely actually) that your laptop charging cord (power cord) is faulty and/or ruined and that it would be very hot and a fire hazard because it has melted itself or similar.. if that is the case and you know its way too hot and has been possibly frying the motherboard literally (like cooking an egg)..then get a new one off ebay/amazon for 20cents on the dollar of bestbuy..etc and try that.

If its more of a computer itself getting to hot issue:
Suggestion is to see if your computer model has a command like (f7 / f4) etc where you can turn on the fans manually for it..if not and/or if fans are running high you can consider keeping computer in less moisture areas with plenty of air flow during use... if that is already being done, you could always try a laptop cooling pad or one of those laptop docks with 4-5 additional fans blowing up at the area affected.. although this is a small annoyance, it may be the only thing that can keep you using the laptop without frying the motherboard.. so consider it.

gl bud and hope its a simple software incompatibility problem and you can update software and/or delete one of them and have this all fixed... but being that its a laptop and many of them go bad due to a faulty charging cord, i would tend to think that is the case.
