They are trying to make you bet on the plus money side. They offer the same odds as other books if you scroll down their odds.

Yeah - post 2. Also I think it's to confuse you and entice. I really doubt they would allow much edge if you always played their posted -money over 115, for instance. When I'm looking at the card I will always just go to the page and change everything to as close to -110 as it will get to start my notes and such.

They do it because those are the numbers that you tease off of.

The above quote is the 100% accurate answer to the question. Any other answer is incorrect.

If you play the game in question straight, the pull down menu allows you to adjust the line so that the juice is (-110). If you look at the "reduced juice" lines, they reflect the real number. The entire objective of these "off" numbers is that they are the numbers used when playing a tease. No ifs, ands, or buts.

if that be the case why wouldnt they make the bettor playin the teaser change the odds with the scroll down menu?..wouldnt they have a whole lot more regular plays than teasers?...i'd think the % of teaser selections is miniscule compared to regular plays..

At 5dimes, when you play a tease, you select how many points you're using before selecting the teams to tease. If I understand what you're saying, that's the stage of the process where the odds get changed.

Nonetheless, I stand by the explanation regarding the motivation for the "off" numbers. In fact, if they let you bet on whether or not the explanation is correct, I'd never have to work again (or could at least afford a lengthy hiatus).

It's because of teasers.
no other reason.
they do offer alt -12 in the sub lines if you would rather play the traditional juice but those aren't what the teasers are based off of

No they want to make it harder on the teaser player.
5dimes is the worst teaser shop in the business because they do this.
teasers are based off the official non alt drop down line.
they made the line -14 instead of -12 to kill off any sort of sharp teaser action
-12 teased 6 points is -6 which gets the teaser through the key number 7.
-14 teased 6 points lands the teaser on 8.
only a fool would bet a teaser on 8.
This is why they do it.

CHOPTALK YOU ANSWERED MY QUESTION.

No big deal, but question was answered in posts 4 & 5. Hours before Choptalk's response. Somehow, he gets thanked while others who provide the same information are doubted. Weird, but moving on.

Yea that's why they do it.
don't bet teasers at 5d.

If you go to the other shops that are -12 you can tease to -6. At 5d you will get screwed with -8.
they do this on all there lines in football.

they will take a game that is -8 everywhere else and make it -9.5 and adjust the juice so people can't tease the 9.5 down to below 3 like you can with 8.
just use the alt lines if you want to bet the normal line.

teaser killers are a good reason why you should avoid teasers all together puff_>>

seriously I know they have some value but I think its overall a sucker bet so the bookies would welcome them.. potentially this year they have gotten beat more than normal though and 5dimes is just discouraging a tease with gb involved simply.
