Week 17 flex ranks: Who'll finish strong?
in.gif

Eric Karabell

This is it, the final flex rankings of the 2012 fantasy football season. Thank you for joining us in this space for the past four months as we've combined the top running backs, wide receivers and tight ends into one tidy package that hopefully aided in your decision-making and helped vault you to meaningful games in late December.

Good luck in your championship matchups and remember, it's never too early to start preparing for the 2013 season and, of course, get ready for fantasy baseball!
1. Adrian Peterson, RB, Vikings: Currently the lone non-quarterback among the top 13 standard scorers for the season. What were the odds of this back in August?
2. Marshawn Lynch, RB, Seahawks: He certainly answered his critics as well, and like Peterson, his game Sunday does matter.
3. C.J. Spiller, RB, Bills: He's a future star, if his coaching staff allows it.
4. Ray Rice, RB, Ravens: Certainly possible Rice doesn't carry a full-game load this week, but look for him to do enough statistically.
5. Arian Foster, RB, Texans: Kind of slumping, as he hasn't reached 50 rushing yards in three of four games. But in the game he did, he skewered the Colts a few weeks ago and should do so again.
6. Alfred Morris, RB, Redskins: This rookie sensation is showing no signs of slowing down.
7. Doug Martin, RB, Buccaneers: Ditto!
8. Calvin Johnson, WR, Lions: He and Peterson are each going for the 2,000-yard mark, but I think Johnson has the better shot, even considering the matchup.
9. Frank Gore, RB, 49ers: The game matters, so he should get plenty of touches.
10. Brandon Marshall, WR, Bears
11. Dez Bryant, WR, Cowboys: You can no longer expect the occasional disappointing game from him. Sunday night should be a blast!
12. Jamaal Charles, RB, Chiefs
13. Vincent Jackson, WR, Buccaneers
14. Steve Smith, WR, Panthers
15. Chris Johnson, RB, Titans: He has tortured fantasy owners all season, yet again, but he seems like the type that would leave that lasting impression of a 175-yard outburst.
16. Andre Johnson, WR, Texans
17. Stevan Ridley, RB, Patriots: Showed in Week 16 he's still Bill Belichick's top back, and he'll be busy again. Patriots will try to score many points.
18. Wes Welker, WR, Patriots: He has a dubious history in Week 17 games, but don't let that dissuade you.
19. LeSean McCoy, RB, Eagles: Hapless Eagles have one more game with Michael Vick and Andy Reid. McCoy should be plenty motivated, and Bryce Brown was barely used last week.
20. A.J. Green, WR, Bengals
21. Knowshon Moreno, RB, Broncos
22. Marques Colston, WR, Saints
23. Reggie Bush, RB, Dolphins: Needs 40 rushing yards to reach 1,000, and gained 64 the last time he saw the Patriots. Could score a touchdown, too.
24. Demaryius Thomas, WR, Broncos: He has a lower rank than normal due to perhaps limited snaps, but he's still worth using.
25. Victor Cruz, WR, Giants
26. Matt Forte, RB, Bears: Hard to believe the Bears, who started the season 7-1, need help just to make the playoffs. Forte has four consecutive double-digit games and should help.
27. Eric Decker, WR, Broncos
28. DeMarco Murray, RB, Cowboys
29. Miles Austin, WR, Cowboys
30. Pierre Garcon, WR, Redskins
31. BenJarvus Green-Ellis, RB, Bengals: Solid season, then he ran 15 times for 14 yards in Week 16. Awesome. Still, the Ravens can be run on, and the Law Firm can do it.
32. James Jones, WR, Packers: He's a touchdown machine, and it doesn't matter which other Packers wide receivers play.
33. Shonn Greene, RB, Jets: Quietly sitting at eight touchdown runs. Not bad at all.
34. Ahmad Bradshaw, RB, Giants: Looked healthy enough to rely on in Week 16, and didn't share much of his workload.
35. Roddy White, WR, Falcons: There's danger here and with his colleague (next on the list), but they should do something.
36. Julio Jones, WR, Falcons
37. Darren McFadden, RB, Raiders
38. Vick Ballard, RB, Colts
39. Danario Alexander, WR, Chargers: Showed last week he's still a force to be reckoned with.
40. Steven Jackson, RB, Rams: Last appeared in a playoff game nearly eight years ago. Um, that's why he might be playing elsewhere in 2013. He scored in double digits in fantasy five consecutive games.
41. Reggie Wayne, WR, Colts
42. Jeremy Maclin, WR, Eagles: Actually playing some pretty good football lately.
43. Montell Owens, RB, Jaguars: Averaging more than 10 fantasy points the past three weeks, which is certainly useful. Let's all thank the Jaguars for making Maurice Jones-Drew week to week for months. Very helpful.
44. Randall Cobb, WR, Packers: Should play, but keep an eye out for his status Sunday morning.
45. Steve Johnson, WR, Bills
46. Jason Witten, TE, Cowboys: From spleen injury to a new record for receptions by a tight end. That's hard to believe.
47. Darren Sproles, RB, Saints: Knowshon Moreno has one fewer rushing attempt over the past two weeks as Sproles has all season. Hard to believe again.
48. Mike Williams, WR, Buccaneers: Nice bounce-back season. He's 17th among wide receivers in season scoring.
49. Antonio Brown, WR, Steelers: Not quite the emergence we hoped for, but he's playing well of late.

49. Antonio Brown, WR, Steelers: Not quite the emergence we hoped for, but he's playing well of late.
50. Brandon Lloyd, WR, Patriots: Incredibly, he needs only 98 receiving yards to reach 1,000. And people have been whining about him all season!
51. Michael Turner, RB, Falcons: Just a terrible season, right? Well, he's top 20 among running backs. No, really.
52. Jimmy Graham, TE, Saints: Last reached double digits in Week 10, but there's so little to rely on at tight end.
53. Mikel Leshoure, RB, Lions
54. Aaron Hernandez, TE, Patriots
55. Mike Wallace, WR, Steelers
56. Hakeem Nicks, WR, Giants
57. Montario Hardesty, RB, Browns: Predicated on Trent Richardson sitting this one out. If T-Rich plays, he's top-30 on this list, and Hardesty heads to the end.
58. Greg Jennings, WR, Packers
59. David Wilson, RB, Giants: Home run threat for big numbers … or he might get another four touches. Risky play unless you're down a bunch heading into the second week of your playoff matchup.
60. Lance Moore, WR, Saints
61. Tony Gonzalez, TE, Falcons: This position is so weak, fantasy owners have to hope this guy keeps on playing next year.
62. Rob Gronkowski, TE, Patriots: Welcome back! (We hope.) Hard to know how many snaps he will see, if any.
63. DeAngelo Williams, RB, Panthers
64. Torrey Smith, WR, Ravens
65. Michael Crabtree, WR, 49ers
66. Ryan Grant, RB, Packers: Should be in line for meaningful work, which for some fantasy teams is enough.
67. Jacquizz Rodgers, RB, Falcons: Turner's backup should see more touches this week. Then again, if they're resting people, Rodgers could be rested as well and be replaced by Jason Snelling.
68. Justin Blackmon, WR, Jaguars
69. Danny Amendola, WR, Rams
70. Jonathan Stewart, RB, Panthers: Please, Panthers, move one of these running backs by next September.
71. Anquan Boldin, WR, Ravens
72. Jackie Battle, RB, Chargers
73. T.Y. Hilton, WR, Colts
74. Larry Fitzgerald, WR, Cardinals: Let the Brian Hoyer era officially begin! Man, what a joke.
75. LaRod Stephens-Howling, RB, Cardinals: You'd have to think the Cardinals bring in some running backs for 2013.
76. Kenny Britt, WR, Titans
77. Ben Tate, RB, Texans: Fantasy's top handcuff in August has 36 fantasy points. That's it.
78. Santana Moss, WR, Redskins: Yeah, he's still playing, and he has scored more touchdowns (eight) than you might realize.
79. Mark Ingram, RB, Saints: Yeah, I would like to see what he could do in a normal offense with 250 rushing attempts. Hmm, I hear the Cardinals need a running back.
80. Ronnie Hillman, RB, Broncos
81. Brian Hartline, WR, Dolphins
82. Jonathan Dwyer, RB, Steelers: Had his chances, but who knows what the eliminated Steelers will do at running back this week. Why play Ben Roethlisberger or anyone important?
83. Sidney Rice, WR, Seahawks
84. Joique Bell, RB, Lions: This guy looks like he can play, but since he didn't go to a big-name college (Wayne State), he must steadily prove himself to get meaningful opportunities.
85. Rashard Mendenhall, RB, Steelers: Not a great Week 17 option, but don't forget about him next year.
86. Jason Avant, WR, Eagles
87. Pierre Thomas, RB, Saints
88. Josh Gordon, WR, Browns
89. Emmanuel Sanders, WR, Steelers
90. Danny Woodhead, RB, Patriots
91. Golden Tate, WR, Seahawks
92. Owen Daniels, TE, Texans
93. Beanie Wells, RB, Cardinals: If he didn't have the occasional monster fantasy game, nobody would care and then, in turn, get burned by him.
94. Rod Streater, WR, Raiders: Preseason hero should have received more opportunities this year. Good luck with Matt Leinart this week!
95. Jeremy Kerley, WR, Jets: Currently the lone Jet with more than 30 receptions. Now that's hard to believe, right?
96. Greg Olsen, TE, Panthers
97. Isaac Redman, RB, Steelers
98. Ronnie Brown, RB, Chargers
99. Randy Moss, WR, 49ers: One more time, Randy, for old time's sake.
100. LaMichael James, RB, 49ers
Others: Brandon Gibson, WR, Rams; Martellus Bennett, TE, Giants; Bilal Powell, RB, Jets; Bryce Brown, RB, Eagles; Denarius Moore, WR, Raiders; Donnie Avery, WR, Colts; Daryl Richardson, RB, Rams; Peyton Hillis, RB, Chiefs.
