I assume its as many as you are willing to pay for. They charge you a monthly rental fee for each (price depending on what type of receiver it is).

Gets a lot more complicated if you're talking about a commercial setting (restaurant, bar, etc.).

I have five receivers in my 3 bedroom house, I want to buy two more receivers and activate them at $6 per month per receiver but allow my family member to have two of the receivers at his house...would directv have an issue or be suspicious of 7 receivers one one account???

We have five boxes and they're about $6 per box. The HD ones are more.

He'd have to have a dish too, obviously. Closest I came to doing something like this is I had my billing address changed to be my parent's home. They set your programming based on that, and I wanted it to be in a place that would show my local sports teams rather than where I actually lived. Worked for years, then I cancelled. Only bad part is that means it also showed non-local news and weather, haha.

Shouldn't be a problem as long as they have a dish and a line coming in to connect. Neighbor bragged he had 5 receivers and 4 of them were at his friends homes in 3 different states and he never pays for DTV since they all send him money every month.

What you're doing is fraud and stealing, if you ever get caught, such as if one of your friends brags about it and someone turns him in, you're going to have to pay a shitload in back fees(at least).

I have 7 or 8. You need a multi switch that allows you to have more receivers. Not like splitting cable. IMO not worth the hassle to lend out receivers to family

you are right...after evaluation its not even worth saving the $50 or so per month for the risk of getting caught...thx for the info guys

take them for all you can.im having a absolute nightmare with them right now.i was sent a new hd-receiver due to a problem with the 1st one and it has come to light that i may have not been getting hd at all.it was never setup right the day it was installed by them and ive went thru all the phone troubleshooting with them and today i asked them to send a real person out to the house and fix it right and all i get is a runaround and they refused to send a service man out to help me out.i can't wait for a year to go by so i can get rid of them or just all of the extras i have with the hd-receiver plan
