I have a friend who is considering having his bachelor party in Jaco.

Good idea?

We are traveling from Washington DC and only plan on being there from Wed-Sun. Is that enough time considering the travel time?

What are the best places to stay for 16 drunk degenerates?

Does anyone recommend using one of these bachelor party services down there?

Any help suggestions would be appreciated.

Listen to the judge get some rooms at the cocal and you will never have to leave your room or the bar. Place is packed with working girls.

Thanks.

They are looking at villas in the area. I am totally against that. Nothing worse than being 20 minutes away from all the action.

This place seems legit.

The Cocal looks to be on the edge of town. Does the location of the hotel matter much?

Are there nightclubs in Jaco?

Are there better places to go in Costa Rica?

The cocal is in the middle of town right on the beach. They have a casino. Not sure about a sportsbook.

For the amount of time your going to be here and seeing it's a bachelor party jaco is the place. If you were staying longer I could recommend 30+ better places to visit. But jaco is the closest beach to san jose and it's a party town. And if you want to escape to a better beach there are plenty within 20 minutes south of jaco.

How about getting to Jaco? It looks like it is 90 minutes from the airport. Do you just take a cab? And if so how much are we talking?

I lived in Jaco for 12 years and think that Cocal is a great suggestion! And unless something has changed they do have a sportsbook. Just ask upstairs of the casino in the poker room. I usually recommend just grabbing a taxi at the airport if it is a couple of people but you might save some time and hassle by arranging ahead of times. I used Kevin's Transfers many times in the past. He has I don't know how many vans. Don't have the contact info but google the name and see what kind of a deal he will offer for a group your size. Have a great time in Jaco and don't waste time at the Beatle Bar. Plenty of fun at the Cocal and regular bars.

TAXIS

At the airport you can take an orange taxi and you pay ahead of time. Rate is 850 colones per kilometer and its about 110 kilometer to Jaco. (rough exchange is 500 colones is one dollar)

Tarifas -en colones-
  1. TIPO DE TAXI
  1. TARIFAS
TAXI SEDÁN
Tarifa banderazo 850,00
Tarifa variable 740,00
Tarifa por espera 3.435,00
Tarifa por demora 7.400,00
TAXI MICROBÚS
Tarifa banderazo 850,00
Tarifa variable 850,00
Tarifa por espera 3.950,00
Tarifa por demora 8.500,00

if you walk to the front of the airport, on the street, there are regular red taxis. (you will need to know spanish though) Regular taxi rate for the red taxis is 590 colones per km the link above says you could pay $60 to $90 which is roughly 30,000 colones to 45,000 colones (but it might be hard to find a willing driver for a low amount, since they have to return empty)

SHUTTLES

Be careful of pre paying for shuttles, I read that Easy Ride didn't pick up someone after he had prepaid, and never responded to calls and refused to refund the person.

https://www.montezuma-hotels.com/interbus-transportation-san-jose-airport-to-jaco-beach

$35 per person leaves 6am 9am 3pm

again, I have never used a shuttle, so no idea how good they are.

Hope this helps :)

This thread is all WRONG.

Question should be: "Judge when are you available to host at Bachelor Party?"

Never met the guy, never even spoke. But if I ever make it to Costa Rica, hanging out the Judge is #1.

At Cocal they have another condo building called Vista Mar, there they have 3 and 4 bedroom suites. Get at least one of these (ocean view) it will be your party central.

I want to remind anyone visiting CR, and especially Jaco and Esterillos area, to be careful when drinking and swimming. The rip tides are incredibly strong, and we lose a lot of people to the Pacific. Bachelor party people should remember not to drink and swim at night, just during the day in populated areas. (even then, check the tide charts to know when the tide is coming in and going out)

Also, it is now illegal to drink on the beach or anywhere in public. Use the pool if you think you want to swim while drinking.

Hope you have a good time for your bunch.

haha Yeah, I wanna see them enforcing that in Jaco during Semana Santa. Another good source of income for he cops. They won't write any tickets, they'll just hustle bribes. I'll have to make it down sometime and video tape the irony of citing drinkers as they ignore drug dealers.
