Tim Brown and Jerry Rice both coming out and basically saying Callahan threw the game cause he hated Oakland and was friends with Gruden.

Nobody would deny he was badly outcoached that day but they're saying he rigged the game 10 years later!

Hopefully this becomes a big story and all the Raiders from that year weigh in.

Barrett Robbins, Romanowski, Rod Woodson etc

Nah both him and J Rice implied rig.

Romo said he is nuts, Zack Crockett said he didn't think so either (although he is a scout for the Raiders right now)

Crazy story. I always wanted to see a documentary on how TB knew all their offensive verbiage and they pretty much had to throw half their playbook out because they didn't change any of the signals. Gruden had guys on the D knowing everything....

Always been curious how players playing against their old teams and the advantages. Kind of like top QBs like Manning and his Pre-snap signals. They can't really change all that much......Losing the QB of the Oline, center, had to be a huge difference in the game and the line calls. From what I was listening to was how Callahan changed the gameplan almost last minute after what, two weeks to prepare......maybe something fishy there. That TB D was really good tho.

John Ritchie said than didn't run anything they practiced. Sound suspect to me.

I would like my money back I lost on Oakland that day and while we're at it I am still owed big money from the robbery in New England when Brady clearly fumbled the damn ball against the Raiders when they were out of timeouts too. Oakland and its' bettors were screwed then too!

One word comes to mind with Bill Callahan, and that's incompetence.

Yeah, and the Cowboys (Jerry) are talking about taking the play calling away from Jason Garrett and giving it to Callahan. Jerry Jones is a complete tool. What a joke.

It was certainly Callahan making a bad call. When Robbins went out it was with 1 day of practice left, Friday. Coach was worried the game plan they had put together wouldnt work with the long snapper now playing center every down. So he did take out a lot of plays and added in some others. And although the players hadnt practiced those plays that week they were plays they had run and knew.
There was turmoil in the locker room as the bad eggs (Brown,Rice, etc) didnt like the change and instead of the team coming together they spent the entire weekend fighting and arguing.
So it was a combination of Coach making drastic changes way to late and the players overreacting to it.
As far as what they are saying now , both players are not in the limelight anymore and wish they could be...F Em

Garrett shouldve been fired. He is awful.

Jones will not admit a mistake there though, so rather than fire "his man" he will just remove some duties.

Garett's play calling was horrid too though, so at least that is a step in the right direction.

Sour grapes from a bunch of whiners; maybe he changed the game plan because he realized that running into the teeth of the Bucs' D-line wasn't the smartest move.

I agree with you that JJ wouldn't fire Garrett for many reasons. But the play calling was not awful. The Cowboys were 6th in the league in total offense with a ton of injuries. They did not have a running game to speak of for virtually the whole season. The main problem they had offensively was in the red zone. Their production there was poor. The big question is how much better could Callahan be? Really?

I know it's been said many times, but JJ needs to check his ego at the door and hire a legitimate GM to make the football decisions. JJ is a hell of a business man. That is what he needs to stick with. In business, you put the right people in place to get the best productivity/results. He thinks he is a football man. That is his problem, 'cause he is anything but....

Let's get this straight. Gruden ran the opposing QB's study in the practices. He knew the Raiders QB tendencies by heart since he coached him in the previous years at Oakland. He knew all the calls and hand signals that the Raider QB would make. All the players AFTER the game said that they knew what the Raiders would run BEFORE they ran the play. If that's NOT a FIX, I don't know what is!

The original gameplan was to run the ball the entire game. The last minute change put the ball in the air. Why would Brown and Rice object to that?

Because it screwed up the play calling for the center since they were making the changes only two days before the SB. It would also screw up Gruden's preparation for the Raiders QB tendencies and audibles before the snap.
