That's what I mean. They probably make hundreds of millions on the Superbowl alone. Even if 30,000,000 bought it for $25 it would probably pale in comparison to what they make now. Anyone have an exact figure?

i don't think you'd have a choice. The SB is the SB, and there's no other action that day, so I guess you'd have to pay for it! I'm sure most posters would have a lot more than $25 on the game, and would like to see what happened to the money we bet!

By an act of congress which gives the NFL pretty much a monopoly the Super Bowl can never be put on PPV or cable. If the NFL could put it on PPV it would make billions from just that one game. It could be shown commercial free. The players would like that as they wouldn't have to stand around during extended TV timeouts. They could eliminate the halftime show. No one at the games cares about the halftime show. They are all at the concession stands and bathrooms. The NFL and NFLPA would love if the game was on PPV. The profits would be split between the owners and players. Look at all the extra things you could do if it was on PPV. You could have a channel where you could hear audio from the players during the game. Profanity wouldn't matter because it was PPV. Cameras isolated on specific players like what is offered for Sunday Night Football online. Super Bowl 3D channel where you could watch the game in 3D.

I'm sure the outcries would be you are depriving people who are poor or don't have cable boxes from the game. Since when does a sporting event have to be made available to ever citizen. You had to pay to see Ali/Frazier and Ali/Foreman. The average person doesn't have the money to attend sporting events. No different that concerts, shows, movies. You can always make the Super Bowl available on same day or next day tape delay over the networks. I know if I had to pay to watch the game with the extra features PPV would offer I would do it.
