Colts owner Jim Irsay held a little contest on Twitter Sunday in which he asked his followers to predict the final score of the Ravens-Patriots game. The prize he offered was $8,500. One guy guessed it correctly (Ravens 27-13). Yesterday, he received a FedEx package that contained $8,500 IN CASH. This is a great story, but makes me feel a little embarrassed that the prize for most Hot Clicks contests is a DVD.NFLOL
You really can't make up some of the stuff the NFL does. The league prints money and we're all addicted to the game, so they can get away with anything they want. But the NFL office is a joke in so many ways. As Hot Clicks told you yesterday, Niners running back Frank Gore was fined $10,500 for having his socks too low. Obviously, that's pathetic in and of itself. However, the NFL made the Gore penalty look even more absurd when it later fined Patriots quarterback Tom Brady $10,000 for an aggressive slide against Ed Reed. Now, let me be clear. I don't think Brady's slide was dirty or egregious in any way. However, for argument's sake, let's say the slide was dirty. (Obviously, the NFL thinks the slide was dirty because they punished Brady.) In the NFL world, a dirty play that can injure someone gets you fined less than how you wear your socks. OK, got it.Easiest Money Ever?
All that stands between new Phillies outfielder Delmon Young and $600,000 is eight pounds. Young's new contract with Philadelphia has several weight clauses that require him to get down to 230 pounds. He's currently at 238 pounds.
