Today is day 10 for me... I am blowing through Jolly Ranchers like crazy but at least I havent smoked. Its the hardest thing I have ever done and this is coming from a Marine!! I find that when I smoked it wasnt necessarily cause I NEEDED a cig but it was a habit of having to have a cig. I mean, when I was walking from A to B I knew it was enough time to have a smoke. After eating was a great time too... Anyway, who has quit smoking and does this shit get any easier?

This reminds me of when i would look at chart notes for patient's I was working with and people with COPD/ emphysema; it is not uncommon for them to be smoking 3 packs per day everyday for 40 years. Crazy. This one lady smoked so much her hair had actually changed to yellow shade because of the nicotine.

Yup, gets a lot easier. I was pack a day for many years. It's been about 7 months for me.

Within a week, you should notice that it is a lot easier. Just get over the hump.

Never understood smoking at all. If you know that doing something will cut your life expectancy short and you will see your wife/GF/kids less than if you didn't smoke then why do it?

MaXX

I quit 4-29-11!

I just read smokers could be paying additional 4-5 thousand a year for Insurance then non-smokers with Obama Care just a Little incentive

I buy a pack once in awhile but never light-up you ever see Sammy from Poker World?

People look all time but it's not lit so..... My actions are just as if I was smoking...... When I'm doing this it's a reminder for me if I did light up It could be like the early morning 4-29-11 when I was in the ambulance. Breathing wasn't easy and final result was a couple "Stents"

10 days, you were a smoker...... done deal.......<><>

Congrats on quitting......now a question, how is Obamacare going to knkw if you are a smoker or not? I dip snuff, im pretty sure if I was asked if I dipped and if I said yes it would cost me $5k a year, my answer would be "hell no I dont use tobacco of any kind sir"

My boss forced me to quit smoking 5 yrs ago by imposing $40 tobacco surcharge per pay period.
I guess I should thank that bastard.

Tobacco surcharge is $68/per paycheck this year, that's $1,768/yr for any employee who is smoker. I understand the reason behind this extra premium, but I think it's a discrimination policy against smokers. They're trying to promote a healthy lifestyle yet they target "smokers" specifically while those fat asses are off the hook. They could have charged an extra dollar or two for every Big Mac a fatty eats. That would be a much better policy.
