Joe Flacco is a free agent after this season, and the Ravens quarterback is looking to cash in on that fact.

After leading his team to a 10-6 regular season record and the Super Bowl, the 28-year-old Flacco is asking for upwards of $18 million per year in his next contract — because that’s how much Peyton Manning makes, of course.

According to the NFL Network's Ian Rapaport, Flacco's camp is arguing that their guy has outplayed Manning, so he should be outearning him, too. That might be a point of contention when comparing the entire body of work shown by the veteran signal-callers, but if Flacco can lead Baltimore to a Super Bowl victory, he just might have a point.

Over the course of his five-year career, Flacco has completed 60.5 percent of his passes while throwing for 102 touchdowns and just 56 interceptions.

He better hope he wins the superbowl.

Those lofty passes are quite dangerous imo...

Course he wants that type of money esp now making it to the big game. But would be hard pressed to find many people who think he is worth it.

That's all fine and Dandy ... ( his Long Passes where he just chucks them up in the air )
without a Good receiver... He's Avg. at best....

Reason why he has 102 touchdowns and 56 interceptions

Peyton Money ?? Get Out of Town !!!!

He's probably near the very Bottom of the current Top 10 NFL QB's

He will get it, someone will pony it up. QB play is so atrocious in NFL that there are some desperate teams out there, coaches/front office under pressure to qin now, no time to develop talent. Add a crappy class coming out of college....he will get it.

He makes $6.7 Million now, and someone will give him $18Mil ?? That's almost Double what Rodgers will get next season
I could see a raise from $6.7 mil to $10-$11Mil, but not $18mil

just my 2 cents

What's he supposed to say? Pretty sure every guy out there asks for the max, at the beginning stages of negotiations.

There's an old expression that goes... "dont hate the playa , hate the game" - well in this case it's "dont hate the playa , hate the agent".

...But what else is the agent going to do ? ask for 7th place money ?

Yeah, I would say that more than a few teams have nothing at the QB position

No shit man. Not everyone has a star at QB. How can you not be excited about all the QB talent right now in this league? It's unreal.

Umm there is like 7 billion people in the world. 10 of them are good at playing QB in the NFL, of course he is gonna get paid a ton.

@BAS....Without good WRs he wouldn't be good? Umm Boldin isn't nearly as good as he was in AZ cause of age/mileage and Smith is a good young player but he is mostly a deep threat. He isn't exactly on anyones list of best young WRs in the NFL or anything...

Flacco has also obviously shown to be pretty clutch. Of course he is worth the $.

STOP !
Yes he's not a Premier receiver anymore... But His Stats are his stats, even with the Cards. Flacco didn't do anything for him. :ohno:

If he holds fast to that price, I'd let him walk.

Why? Top NFL QBs are underpaid across the board based on any type of supply/demand, value-added analysis.

Ravens previous QBs before Flacco....Washed up McNair, K Boller, Anthony Wright, Troy Smith.

I dunno I think I'd probably pay his ass than go back to that. Playing in the superbowl is cool.

Are you kidding? Boldin is a physical WR who took tons of punishment in his career. Pretty much everyone would agree he isn't the player he was in AZ.

I'm not even sure what the point of you posting his stats are...

I don't know if he's worth Manning money but he WILL get paid..
Flacco's playoff record in only 5 years in the league: 8-4 pending the Superbowl.
Manning's playoff record: 9-10 with 1 Superbowl win

The point I am trying to make besides that Joe Flacco is infact pretty good, albiet not great is that QBs rule the roost in the NFL.

If anything Peyton Manning is underpaid. As is Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, etc.....There is a reason these guys never hit the open market....

When is the last time a big NFL QB hit the open market that was remotely in his prime? It doesn't happen because the teams are smart enough to know that pretty much all these guys across the board are undervalued commodities. A point I think BAS/Judge are missing.....
