they will laugh at retirement in your 60s

they will wonder how hard it was only living to an average age around 75 years old

they will wonder how hard it was for us to die by minor diseases like cancer and alz

they will have even tighter lines on sports that move instantly on all books

50 years will look alot worse than 100 years in my opinion. Within 50 years, the obvious will be made more public. Once the everyday person's life changes substanially, that is when shit hits the fan. Substantially doesn't mean unemployment going from 8 to 9% or even to 15%

A question i would like answered is, in the next 20/50/100 years, will there be a nuclear weapon used and as technology increases, will the blast be even more potent than it currently is. If a nuclear bomb went off in downtown DC, a study was done showing that the majority of citizens would survive but of course, over time, people will develop cancer and other biological problems making the death toll higher.

Personally, i think North Korea is a big joke. If you study them, they are the typical "all bark and no bite". I won't get into specifics of the country but I see them as no threat to anything UNLESS with absolutely nothing to lose and knowing there regime will get overthrown in a matter of days (like a saddam Hussein) if they just discharged those weapons at South Korea or US. Right now, they just posture on stuff like this because they know if they start a war, there Kim dynasty rule is over. Even if they discharged, there is still a high percentage of failure.

To put in perspective how long 100 years actually is compared to what you see as current.

Adolf Hitler came to power and was appointed Chancellor of Germany (democratically) only 70 years ago tomorrow. World War 2 only ended 58 years ago. 100 years is a long time. Just 20 years ago, most have never heard of this internet thing.

I think privacy will be of tremendous value to the people talk walk the earth 100 years from now. And I think they will look back on these times and envy what we have right now - as far as privacy. I see technology evolving to the degree that anyone will be able to spy on anyone else if they really want to. I think an evolving industry will be that of personal gadgets that scramble signals of the opposing spy devices. Right now if an employee wanted to monitor their bosses office conversations, it might require a clunky bug type device to be planted in the bosses office. Is it that far fetched to envision a near future where the said employee can just walk by the bosses office and toss an undetectable nano - device up on the wall that records and even videos a room and it's activities? Once that technology is here and it starts getting abused - I think the average Joe will be very aware of his/her privacy in a much different way than today. Maybe I'm paranoid, but I see this a major issue in the future. And as part of this paranoid delusion I have, i think people will look back on today's world and envy the ability to be in a room and not have to scan it for surveillance devices.

I think you made some really great points.
Its a lock that one of the biggest battles we will face in the near future is privacy both in technology and in legislation.

Something I do hope is that 100 years from now American citizens will have a better handle on history and math.

Adolf Hitler was appointed chancellor by Hindenburg in 1933, 80 years ago. It's also a stretch to call his appointment democratic.

World War II ended in August 1945, putting at 68 years since V-J Day this summer.

Someone had a cool post before that gave a website with predictions of the future.

call me crazy, I believe that we will find life in space, or at least enought to show we are not alone. The world's politics would change for a common good.

people 100 years from now will only know what it is like today based on what is written in the history books, and those books are written by whomever is in charge... Chinese, Indian, ?????

the books could read: "the rise of the Great Empire of China can be traced to the 2045 Alaska Purchase where United States President Justin Bieber sold Alaska to the Empire to forgive much of that countries debt."

In 100 years they will laugh at the concept of exchanging paper and metal for goods and services. Cash and coin will be long gone.
