This irks me every year. Sports show hosts on both radio and TV including anchors who make statements like these. You can bet what color the Gatorade will be, the length of the Star Spangled Banner and how long the Harbaugh brothers will hug after the game in Las Vegas. The same myth that you can bet who wins the Academy Awards in Las Vegas. When are these idiots going to get their facts straight. I'm sure many tourists who come in to town go to sportsbooks ask about making these bets. Some of these hosts will actually say in they were in Las Vegas for the Super Bowl and made these bets. When you watch your local news tonight it's almost a cinch that some clown will mention one these props they say you can bet in Las Vegas and make some stupid banter about it.

The day Las Vegas offers any props that can be manipulated by the participants other than outright cheating or fixing a game will be it's last. Many years ago the El Cortez or it might have been Binions offered betting on the World Series of Poker main event. This was when the fields were short, 100 players or so. They got burned. At that time I don't think the GCB had rules against putting up those WSOP props, only the election. I still can't figure out why they book boxing. The title is not important, only the money. With all the sanctioning bodies what the hell is a belt worth. This isn't the old days with the WBC and WBA. Everybody remembers a few years past when the Academy of Motion Pictures members got polled on who they voted for and the offshores got slammed. I know you can't get down real big money on the Star Spangler Banner length but it's been lip synced several times. Employees at the venue knew exact time to the second from rehearsals. A few select people got that information and they picked up some easy cash. The Presidential election in this day and age is probably the safest bet sportbooks could take. I guess someone on the inside could know about the release of an "October surprise" but for the most part because of the large amount of people voting it's a fair bet. Las Vegas could take action on it but for some high and mighty reason gaming won't allow it.
