Challenger blowing up: a lady at work told me about it. I remember feeling physically ill.

Columbia blowing up on re-entry: at a motel. I thought it was an meteor at first.
OJ chase: at my apartment with my neighbor and his kids.

Magic announcement? Hardly consider that a famous event, relative to the others mentioned. Might as well throw in Pee Wee Hermans arrest outside porn shop.

this is a sports forum and when one of the greatest players in history announces something that nobody expected, i'd call it famous. compared to the others, obviously not as important, but people remember it.

9/11 is the most vivid. I was sleeping in that day and my girlfriends parents called. My girlfriend came into the bed room and passed the message, "my mom says to turn on the TV, we are under attack !" So you can imagine the surrealism of the minute it took me to jump out of bed, turn on TV and tune in to the news to figure out what was going on. The only other time these words "we are under attack" applied to USA history was pearl harbor. It is etched in my mind forever
