Kaepernick was quite the high school sports star. During his senior year at John Pitman High School in Turlock, California, he made All-State in football, basketball and baseball. Matter of fact, he was a two time All-State performer in baseball. He pitched two no-hitters his senior year and was recruited heavily for the sport.

The odd fact is Kaepernick was in little demand as a football player. He received only one scholarship offer for football and that was an afterthought offer from Nevada. The rest is history..........

Goes to show that high school recruiting is not an exact science...guess we will see come Wednesday.

Sidenote on Kaepernick:

This season was his second and his salary was a modest $607,922. Compare that to Alex Smith's $5,000,000.
Next year his salary will be $740,844. If Smith is back and I doubt the niners keep him....his 2013-14 salary
would be $7,500,000 million.

Kaepernick is locked into his 2013-14 salary because of the three year rule but can renegotiate a new contract
after next season. Man, great deal for the 49ers for sure. Paying a starting NFL quarterback $740,844.
