We officially have the most bizarre story of National Signing Day.

12:40 Update: Corey Long reported on ESPN that Collins' mom has upstaged his signing ceremony and is refusing to let him sign his letter of intent to Arkansas. In fact, she cannot even be found.
"The papers are not there. I've been told by two different sources that Alex Collins' mom confiscated the papers and took off and ran with them. They are looking for her currently. From what I understand, Alex is not at the school right now, he is looking for his mom. She was quite torn up about him leaving."
Original: On Monday evening, Alex Collins chose the Arkansas Razorbacks. Collins is one of the highest rated recruits in the country, a five-star running back out of Ft. Lauderdale (Fla.) South Plantation High School.
But not everyone was happy that Collins chose Arkansas over the hometown Miami Hurricanes.
In particularly, Collins' mom was rumored to be unhappy with his choice. Collins had a hard upbringing and doesn't live with his mom, but instead with his coach Doug Gatewood. But mommas are still mommas, and Collins' was known to be strongly in favor of him staying home and signing with the Miami Hurricanes.

[h=1]Alex Collins wavers on Arkansas on national signing day as mom confiscates letter of intent[/h]
It seemed to be set in stone: Alex Collins, a stellar running back from South Plantation, Fla., announced Monday that he would sign with Arkansas when the NCAA’s national letter-of-intent day dawned today.

Evidently his mother had other ideas. ESPN’s Corey Long reports that she showed up at South Plantation High School, confiscated his letter of intent and disappeared before it could be faxed to Arkansas.

Andrea McDonald, Long reported, does not want Collins to leave home. He is 18, however, and does not require the signature of a parent or guardian on his letter of intent. Mike Collins, South Plantation’s athletic director, confirmed that Alex had not yet signed with any school.

“We’re going to give the family as much time as they need to make the right decision,” Mike Collins told the South Florida Sun Sentinel. “At this time there’s no indication of anything other than the original plan. The family just wants more time.”
Collins is rated the No. 1 running back in the nation by 247Sports.com and also was recruited by Miami, Florida State, Florida and Wisconsin.

“It’s just a stressful time for him right now,” teammate John Franklin told the Sun Sentinel. “Some things happened that I’d rather not speak about because it’s his business. I don’t want to put it out there.”

How his poor ass mother has coin to pay lawyers for "family decisions" is amazing. My guess is he wanted to ball with the big boys and not shitty ass Miami and the ACC. He might wanted to get out of that town seeing how a lot of these guys get dragged down by their local friends. His mom is a typical sorry ass excuse for a person. She didn't even raise him. Now she wants to ride the coat tails of a son that she wouldn't even show up for signing day for......utter trash.

I would almost guarantee that bitch took money from Miami as a deal to secure her son, he flipped on his decision, and she ends up with egg on her face.

Good article Douglas
