I played the 5 dimes $50K guaranteed today. I had a free entry due to the amount of "beast points" I accumulated
throughout last month.

I started off with 5,000 in chips, and w/in the first 5 hands I lost it all (except for 200) on a flush over flush situation.

I was debating leaving to go out anyway, so I just started throwing my chips in the middle every hand. Within a few hands
I doubled up twice, so then I decided I would try to see how far I could come back.

Long story short, I finished in 106th place out of 1400 and made $100.

Not a major win, but pretty cool considering I was down to 200 chips w/in the first couple hands.

Like Doyle said "chip and a chair."

Buyin is $55, but the top ~350 players each month in terms of "beast points" get a free entry. Beast points are accumulated by playing
jackpot tables, and they take a little bit extra rake off of these tables to pay for all the entries.

No prob... Do you have connections at 5 Dimes to possibly get sponsored tourneys?

no. Usually BAS or Hache are the ones with communication with the sponsor books.. I love our weekly game already but it would be really cool and maybe of interest for 5dimes or bovada to start sponsoring on their poker software.

Lots of very soft satellites to this tourney as well. So many win free seats it's not uncommon to be playing this tournament with 3-5 inactive just slowly blinding away. The 1400 field is correct but I'd guess only 1000 actually play a hand.

Satellites run on the weekend, (the Beast is 3:00 pm pst Sunday), and the buyins run anywhere from player points to $12. Or $50 buyin to the tourney.

I think someone said, "a chip and a prayer" way before Doyle. Maybe Amarillo Slim.

Looks like it was Jack Strauss not Doyle that said it:

[h=2]Chip and a Chair[/h]One of the most famous quotes in poker history was coined by Jack "Treetop" Strauss at the 1982 World Series of Poker Main Event. Early in the second day, Strauss moved all-in and lost. As he got up from the table, he realized he still had a single $500 chip under a napkin, and because he never actually said he was all-in (he simply pushed his chips forward), he was still in the tournament. From there, Strauss won the championship, saying, "All you need to win is a chip and a chair."

Crazy game

Yesterday, I hit the poker table at 7:30am. I like to catch the all-nighters trying to lose all their money before they can go to bed. I sat down at a $1/$2 game with $300. The dealer asked me if I wanted to take the big blind or wait for the button to pass and I told him I would take it. Before I could take my jacket off, I looked down at pocket 10s in the big blind. It folds all the way around to the small blind who raises it to $24. I debated on calling since I usually liek to ease into the game and that was a monster bet but I called. Flop came As 10s 5s. The small blind bet $60 into me, I smooth called. I have no idea what type of player this guy is, and I figured I'd see one more card before committing all of my chips. Turn comes 7h. He fires $80. I reraise $100 to put him all in. He calls and has Ks Qd. I hold my breath but a blank comes on the river. A nice first hand double up. After he left, everyone at the table started joking around that the guy was giving money away and they were waiting for that type of hand against him but I got it on my first hand.

Anyways fun day, ran my $300 up to $1107. However, if that guy would of caught his spade/Jack on the river, I probably would of been home by 9am and down $300. Crazy game indeed
