...possibly the greatest NBA player in history.

I am NOT a Lebron "butt boy". I have always appreciated James as a great talent. However what he has just done by setting the NBA record with at least 30 ppg plus a 60 % FG percentage for six straight games is amazing.

During this stretch he has been anything but selfish...passing the ball well...getting assists...and playing great defense.

Unreal talent and player and teammate. I suspect that he is beginning to eclipse Jordan as the greatest player of all time.

Congrats Lebron for improving your game every season even after winning a world championship. I can't imagine watching a better player in my lifetime.

Opposing or supporting opinions are always welcomed.

I agree with you that James is FANTASTIC. Anyone that argue that is just hater imho. But, I think MJ is still much better player then James, for 1 simple reason. 6 championship rings. That's all. If he get near that number or more, then without doubt he will be best player ever. I was in my teen years when i watched MJ play and that was pure pleasure...

Some guys say MJ had better team to play with, but now LeBron is with fantastic team and only time will tell. He's only 28.

What Magic said today:
Earvin Magic Johnson
If MJ and LeBron played 1-on-1 10 times, MJ would win all 10. MJ is the ultimate 1-on-1 player!

Earvin Magic Johnson
Michael Jordan is a 6x Champion 6x finals MVP and one of the most unstoppable forces this game has ever seen

Lebron is a beast in size compared to Jordan.. but Jordan had the eye for the prize.. he couldn't be stopped till he kissed the trophy in finals.

Lebron is the best of the current players by far though.. he is unmatched.

When he gets to 6 titles, come talk to me. Also, let's all keep in mind (ppl seem to forget this a lot) ......MJ has NEVER lost in an NBA Finals appearance. Obviously, the comparisons will go on for the next months, years, decades. MJ is still the GREATEST OF ALL TIME! Yup, I said it.

MJ is the greatest but its after his whole career to acknowledge this... I mean to say that Lebron isn't headed in the right direction is craziness bud. He is surely the only player in the league currently and for a long time that has a shot at even competing for 6 titles on his shoulders and being the face of the NBA.

MJ did it and is the legend.. but something tells me it would be ridiculous to think we don't refer to Lebron in the same way 20 yrs from now when he is long gone.

LJ is doing some amazing things. The talent is def there, BUT, AND ITS BIG (BUT) TO ME, IT COMES DOWN TO DESIRE, WILL, DETERMINATION OVER THE LONG HAUL. CAN HE SUSTAIN THOSE ATRIBUTES OVERIME...THATS 1 THING I FEEL SEPERATED MJ AND MADE HIM SPECIAL BESIDES HIS TALENTS. Lets talk in 5-10- years. for now to me its way to premature.....

Jordan is by far my favorite player to watch of all time. But I gotta give Lebron his due. The man is at least on MJ's level in terms of just putting up beast numbers and dominating games. But, MJ was much more clutch down the stretch.

The one thing that impressed me most about Lebron is how he transformed the Cavs in to one of the best teams in the league. I mean they went from showing 40 something national televised Cavs games in one season (including playoffs) to 2 the next season. I mean they went from 61-21 with Lebron and when he left they went 19-63. I think Lebron is the greatest player of all time because I think he gives any team a chance to win regardless of who he's playing with.

MJ made the Bulls a championship team, but the Bulls were still a solid team with out him because they had a great coach and some great players. Lebron could go to the Bobcats and make them a 40+ win playoff team. The dude is a physical specimen and right now in his prime he is unstoppable.

RstableIf I was starting a team today, I may start it with Magic. Lebron and Jordan are better but Magic wad one of the best leaders and team players I have ever seen. Plus, he was so clutch.

I grew up and always have been the biggest Michael Jordan fan ever. Not once in the last 20 years have I even put anyone in the same sentence with him because there has literally been that much distance between him and everyone else. Even Kobe was never even close. However...

Lebron is not better than MJ over the course of their respective careers (yet), BUT at any point in MJ's career he was not as good as Lebron is right now. I've never in my life seen an all-around game being played at this high of a level. Starting with last years playoff run through today, there is no way you can tell me someone has played at a higher level. It's like a flip-switched and he finally started wanting to be the greatest which is all he needed. Lebron is a better passer, rebounder, and plays/guards 4 different positions per game. Lebron makes his teammates much better. They are both lockdown defenders so we'll give that a tie. MJ is a better free throw shooter and MJ has always had that killer instinct that Lebron was lacking for years but now he has it. Lebron is also playing during a time where the average player is better, stronger, faster, zone D exists, etc. What Lebron is doing right now as efficently as he's doing it is insane. And let's not forget that Jordan didn't win his first ring til his late 20's either...

Even if Lebron only gets to 3 or 4 rings, if he stays healthy and keeps wanting to be the greatest for another 7-8 years, he will be, plain and simple...

While yes I agree with all of your points Rounder, I just want to say that it is rare to read anyone's thoughts expressed in writing so well.:toast:

I personally think he planned this stretch. That he sat down and said what do i want to do? 30+ without shooting 20 shots in a 5 game stretch.

You have to remember kobe had 9 straight games of 40 points or more. Even tho he was jacking up shots and losing some of those games. And kobe had a month straight of 30 pt games lol.

If we are talking about right now then of course lebron is the best. But body of work so far.... Not even better than kobe. Def not michael. I mean before last year.... Lebron couldnt hit the big shot and was called a choker. Now he is being called the greatest. Perception

Im not gonna say that Lebron is better than Michael but if you're saying its only because of rings i don't think thats fair. Even though it wasn't that long ago there is more talent spread out around the NBA nowadays. There are 5 or 6 teams every year that are good enough to at the very least challenge for the title along with a couple of surprise teams. There were a lot more walkovers in michaels day. Its hard to compare players from different eras. In hockey for example, nobody will ever get 200 points in a season again like gretzky did. The game is just more competitive and players are bigger stronger and faster. Does that mean that there wont be another player that comes in and is amazing? Of course not but stats and numbers may never compare.

There is no question that Lebron is the most dominant player on the planet today so lets all just enjoy what he is doing out there because its special in its own right.
