Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops is making changes with the Sooner coaching staff. Defensive line coach Jackie Shipp and offensive line assistants James Patton and Bruce Kittle have been fired making the most turnover on his staff in 14 seasons with the school. All of the moves have come in an apparent effort to shore up line play on both sides of the ball. Oklahoma has finished 10-3 the past two seasons and Stoops knows Sooner fans want more...like in challenging for a national championship.

During the season, former Oklahoma coach Barry Switzer suggested the team wasn't getting good enough play on either the offensive or defensive line and had fallen behind in landing talent. Switzer speaks...Stoops listens! Stoops signed ten lineman in this year's recruiting class. Two of the offensive linemen are junior college transfers. Stoops is 149-37 during his tenure with the Sooners.

2013 Oklahoma Schedule

8/31 La-Monroe
9/7 West Virginia
9/14 Tulsa
9/21 Open Date
9/28 @ Notre Dame
10/5 TCU
10/12 Texas (Dallas)
10/19 @ Kansas
10/26 Texas Tech
11/2 Open Date
11/9 @ Baylor
11/16 Iowa State
11/23 @ Kansas State
11/30 Open Date
12/7 @ Oklahoma State

Favorable schedule with seven home games and three open dates. Three week run of Notre Dame, TCU and Texas will be a challenge but the open dates will offer extra rest and preparation time. Probably another 10 win season.

Future rivalry game set: Oklahoma and Nebraska have scheduled home and home games for 2021-22. The first game will be in Norman on September 18th, 2021, followed by a game in Lincoln on September 17, 2022. This has been a great rivalry over the years and good to see them playing again. Sooners lead series 45-38-3.

They could lose all 4 of their away games. Then there is the Texas game. It is quite possible that Mack Brown "retires" if Texas loses another game to OU and does not win the Big 12 (-2) Championship. The Texas game should be a great one. So much is on the line for both Head Coaches.

Junk, to be honest, I don't have a clue if Mack Brown wants to coach out his contract (runs through 2020) or if
he is thinking about an earlier exit date. He's 61 years old and his contract last year paid him $5.2 million. My
understanding is he gets a $100,000 annual raise throught the life of the contract.

Maybe one of the Texas guys in the know can give us a scoop on Coach Brown's plans. I'm thinking he doesn't
want to walk away from $5 plus million a year just yet.

I think Brown gets fired if he does not defeat OU and wins the Big 12 Conference. It has been 7 years since Texas has won a Big 12 Conference Championship. How much longer will they wait on Brown to deliver?
