Anyone care to take a crack at explaining the Celtics since Rondo went down?

Garnett takes the night off and Jeff Green scores 31 in his first start of the year against the Suns. I know their schedule has not been brutal since Rondodown but they are playing arguably their best ball of the year. 8--3 since 1/29(Rondodown) and they beat Miami on the 27th! If I had any money the bookie would have taken it all away anyway so I am just sitting here wondering and shaking my head. I am sure if I start betting them a nice fresh cream pie is coming my way. Thanks for listening...

Sometimes a team comes together without stars.. it is not uncommon for a guy to have night off due to injury or sickness and bench guys who never get a star role turn into temporary stars.

Besides some of these guys need a chance to be discovered is all :)

Rondos number are great, but this one baffles me too. Basketball is a team sport though, Maybe Rondo has too much control? he does always has the ball in his hands and maybe the team is more effective when everyone plays a bigger role offensively? better chemistry without Rondo? or is this winning streak just a fluke? so many unanswered questions here

Don't need to google Ewing theory as I do not believe Rondo is overrated. Do you think Rondo is overrated?

WTF are you talking about!!?? :think2:

two crucial elements needed to be in place for any situation to qualify for "Ewing" status:
  1. A star athlete receives an inordinate amount of media attention and fan interest, and yet his teams never win anything substantial with him (other than maybe some early-round playoff series).
  2. That same athlete leaves his team (either by injury, trade, graduation, free agency or retirement) -- and both the media and fans immediately write off the team for the following season.
When those elements collide, you have the Ewing Theory.

Isn't crucial element number one the same as saying someone is overrated?

Read it however you want. The whole theory is based on a player that won national accolades constantly and is considered on of the best to ever play the Center position. Oh yea, not to mention he won an NCAA title at Georgetown.

Rondo and the Celtics play of recent without him fits the "Ewing Theory" to a tee, IMO.

More people getting involved offensively which equates to more participation defensively.

I bet the Cleveland Cavs fans do not put too much stock in "Ewing Theory".

Jeff green was a stud in high school in pg county, md. He would have been nice coming off the bench in okc once harden left. Had major heart surgery and now is finally back to form. I hope the celtics somehow beat the heat in the playoffs.

If you are referring to them losing Lebron in the offseason then you really do need to google "Ewing Theory"...

Boston looked just great against a very solid Phoenix team LOL. Just a game earlier the C's got beat by 14 by a shitty Lakers team.

Not according to JustinCruise...

But seriously, the Lake show is playing at a different level of late than they were at the beginning of the year. You had to know it would just be a matter of time before they figured it out.

C's lost 6 games in a row before Rondo inj.
Rondo goes down, out for season and Boston wins 7 in a row and 9 of the last 12 with wins vs Miami, Chicago, Clippers & Denver

Boston has been streaky this season, hard to imagine they are doing better without Rondo but right now their record is showing that

My guess is it comes down to Rondo not being a threat to score more than 5 ft away from the basket. Defenses could sag off of him. This could be why they are scoring more consistently. No more 10 pt quarters with Rondo dominating the ball.
