Its hard to say, I think it depends on the situation. If a team is doing well in the pre-season and the regulars are the ones that are playing well then yeah, I guess it matters. I'll take a team thats already rolling over a team with players just trying to get it going early on. Pitching is definatly a different factor in the regular season too. With the exception of the last week or so of the preseason most starters dont get more than about 3-4 innings of work at the max and no more than say 50-70 pitches. Its easier for teams with good offenses to look good in the preseason when they're hitting off guys that will be pitching in the minors this year. I still beleive that learning pitchers matchups and tendencies are the best way to handicap baseball especially once the season really gets goin.
