you can make phones work on other networks by jailbreaking/unlocking them.. not sure what iphone she has but most of them are unlockable by now

Yes, you would be able to get it to work. I've helped my friends do it before. Once you unlock it, you would be able to use it on AT&T. Which model is it? I am assuming it is the 4S.

I don't believe you can.

They operate on different networks.

this is not what I understood guys but I understand why most people would think this being verizon is cdma but u can add a sim card for att and use their network in comination with jailbreaking the iphone and it will work. I don't "dabble" in apple products but I do believe onemodel of iphone will not do this though (not sure which) but the other 4 or 5 iphone versions certainly might and it wont be that hard of a task if you jailbreak/unlock your phone. :)

Murph, he has a verizon iphone that doesnt even have a sim slot...I would think modification is not easy here.

I believe I might have been misunderstanding before and now I realize that the Iphone 4s I know for sure will convert.. it is the other ones that wont. (not sure why as I don't deal with apple products but I have read Iphone 4s will convert).. so instead of all but 1.. its 1 and not the rest.

You can always sell your phone on ebay/amazon buyback/gazelle/etc and get money and then buy a new att phone with contract for decent price (or buy on ebay one that works on att)

You cannot convert a CDMA phone to a gsm phone no matter what kind of jail brake. It would be easier to send someone to the moon.

So your answer is it can't be done short of gutting out all the insides out of a CDMA phone and replacing it with the insides of a gsm iPhone

Agree best case here is to sell on ebay and buy on ebay...will be minimal costs...craiglist an option too to save shipping bur ebay has security in purchase

Listen to the guys above.. I am not an apple guy whatsoever.. however google is still implying the Iphone 4s is possible to do as I have implied.. but no way I care to research it because apple I would just whip at a wall :):).. but I have decided to have you consider another method altogether which can turn any phone into useable.

How about just dont use the phone network at all puff_>>

Use the phone for wifi and get Talkatone app (apple) and/or google voice and/or NetTalk app (android) and you can talk/text/etc all you want for free and have the internet too puff_>>

who needs a network when you can have "free" (based on wifi service you may or may not pay for)

No, you won't be able to do it then. If you had a Verizon 4S model, you would have been able to as they do have sim card slots that can work in the US when unlocked.
