......would have taken the 49ers to the Super Bowl last year. Let's face it, if he wasn't injured, he would have probably been the starting QB the rest of the year. He was pretty much doing what Kaepernick did the remaining games. After all, they had the same talent around them and pretty much ran and threw the same way. Any thoughts?

Not impossible but I say Green Bay would have beat them and Atlanta also.

Hard to say,but I think A.Smith would have taken them as far as Kaepernick.

Just my two cents.

I have said this for years! In football a team plays to a style and they almost make it a tennis match. They will be cautious and volley back n forth waiting for the mistake! With Smith as the qb the niners played different and teams did the same verse them.. The defense played tighter with Smith than with Colln. The niners were more ground control and clock control. Other teams were no so afraid as to say by an explosive offense. Therefore, they take less risk and form into ball control as the niners. But with colin an offense would open up and teams press and gamble more. The defense gambles more b/c they feel they can score more effectively if need be..

I think the niners go just as far with Smith. Tough break for him but thats the business. Look at denver last year and how everyone was saying the defense was so great when tebow played. Then they get Manning and the defense is still good but they didn't play such tight games with 13-10 finals! In football just b/c you have lots of talented players it doesn'tmean you will be better! The style is often the factor. Look at the Chiefs! Loaded with talent and had 8 pro bowlers or something!
