yeah how dare him not let the u.s. steal all the country's oil!
How dare him oppress his people, restrict freedom of the press, and push his nation into poverty while ruling as an authoritarian, right?
You must have mistaken me for a right-wing mouth breather who only hates Chavez because Fox News says he's bad.
fair enough
but the congress in the u.s. (one of the richest countries in the world) has an approval rating of around 20%, and yet chavez, who apparently pushed his nation into poverty, has an approval rating of 64%.
perhaps we have been lied to about the "evil dictator" for reasons of international politics and resources
Just because he was a favorite target of the far right doesn't mean there wasn't some merit to it. Do you really think asking people who live under an authoritarian regime if they like their dictator is going to yield honest results?
oh, the results may very well be skewed. and he may very well have been an asshole. but the information we receive from the u.s. media/corporate interests is very biased, he did in fact drive coke and many other companies out of the country, but why should we care?
we are told to hate all these foreign leaders that have done nothing to the u.s., other than cost some billioinaires a few dollars on the grand chessboard. if the shoe was on the other foot and north korea was trying to take all the silver out of nevada, i think i would want obama to stand up to them.
castro, chavez, hussein, ahmadinejad, etc - the only thing these guys have in common is that they are sitting on stuff we want and never threatened or had the capability to threaten the united states.
