Lots of good fights on today. Looking forward to a nice battle between Juan Carlos Salgado and Argenis Mendez. Last time they fought it was a close fight that really could have gone either way until the 12th round when Salgado was knocked down. I really thought both guys fought well, but it wasn't until rounds 11 and 12 that they were turning it up for knockout shots. I expect more of the same here. I really wish I could bet a draw but my local doesn't have one. I think there is a decent chance at it so the odds you would get would make it a nice value play for a small amount. I think both guys pace themselves for a long fight. Both guys have to know they can win if it goes to a decision. Mendez because he would did win the last decision and had Salgado not gone down in the 12 could have had at least a draw last time. I expect them to feel each other out for the first few rounds and rachet it up late. They have 3 losses combined and all three losses went over. I'm taking over.

In the Ulises Solis/Edgar Sosa fight this is another rematch. They fought about 10 years ago and I have not seen the fight. Solis took the decision but since then I really think Sosa has progressed much more as a fighter. In the past 10 years he has only lost once in Mexico (also lost in Thailand in a fight I haven't seen.) What I have seen when I've watched Sosa is a pretty good fighter. I think he has the edge here. Solis has been fighting weaker guys in my opinion in the last 3-4 years. I really like Sosa to take this one. I'm not sure if we get to see the score cards because both guys have some power for being tiny. I'm thinking Sosa's brutal body shots wear down Solis over the course of this one.

Finally, B-Hop and Cloud. I remember the first time I saw Cloud fight and thinking this guy is going to be a star. Anyone that saw him when he was racking up KOs every time probably thought the same thing. There is no denying that Cloud is a great fighter. He has some big wins and fought some good fighters. In the past couple years I saw something against both Glen Johnson and more so against Clinton Woods that give me concern. His footwork isn't great. He should have put Woods away very early, Woods was an awful fighter. I don't care about his record or his 1 solid win in his career he was terrible and Cloud let him hang around. Tonite he is fighting a legend in Hopkins. Hopkins is much older fighter than I'd like to back. I have concerns with guys in their late 30s let alone late 40s. However, I think he will have a great game plan to pick Cloud apart. I think Hopkins comes blazing early. He will have to take the early rounds because he knows Cloud should be in much better shape than he will be at the end of the fight. I think Hopkins takes care of business early and steals a couple late rounds with his experience. I really believe he will only need to win 2 rounds in the second half of the fight to win.

Mendez/Salgado over 11.5 150/100
Edgar Sosa to win 150/200
Bernard Hopkins to win 100/135
Hoping to take 2 of these and I'll have a winning night.

2-1 +185 terrible call on salgado, but sosa came through with a KO in round 2. Not really sure what to say about B-Hop other than he is a genius in the ring. Wasted no punches, had a ton in the tank. I give credit to Cloud for taking some big shots. Didn't like him acting like he took a head butt when it was clearly a Hopkins left hook that opened his face up. Hopkins did not look 48 he looked like he could fight several more years.

Love B-Hop! Was on it as well at +130. I'd like to see him fight again. Impressive as always.
