That stuff is motivating as hell to me. To go through all of that training. I know a distant friend of a friend of a friend who is but thought I would pose it to everyone.

If it is what people say it, alot of respect from me.

The discipline itself is something that most could not handle. I am a horribly swimmer so I know I would never have a chance. Among other things most likely.

my best friend's dad was a seal when i was in grade school...he would let us play with already used single shot rocket launchers....pretty cool when you are in fourth grade

i lost touch after a while when we went to different high schools, but my mom runs into his mom from time to time and he is now also a seal and always "somewhere overseas" from what i hear

he was a short guy but a tough kid even in fourth grade...no joke

The former CO of BUDS (a Navy Captain) had an office across the hall from me. Great guy. Played college football at Davidson.

A few of my lifeguard buddies were/are.

The Coast Guard put a few through the program a few years ago, but our current Commandant nixed CG participation.

In the early 90's ironcially my college psychology professor was a SEAL (which I didn't find out until later in the year). Great teacher. Great with the students. Then within a days notice he said he had to leave mid-semester for personal reasons and sub would replace him. Not until a months later did I find out he was deployed to Iraq.

My ex girlfriends father was a navy seal. Unfortunately he was killed in action a few years ago.

Biggest badass I've ever met.

It is mostly mental......certain ones can take that to awesome levels though. But, there is no such person as "John Rambo"

I don't think it's mostly mental. It is mental but the physical conditioning throughout their training is unlike any of us can ever fathom.

matter of fact, I was in the Bahamas this past week because of a wedding where the Groom is a Seal.
The dude is built like a Brick shithouse but Very flexible...more like a perfect athlete. and almost everyone was looking at him by the Pool. most thought he was a Ball player of some kind..

I have so much respect for these guys... and All service men

Not like that... But yeah... when I was talking to him and hanging out with the group, you couldn't help Not looking at his veins popping out of his arms and legs.
Maybe thinking that I wish I was in that kind of shape.

My neighbor is a retired Green Beret (and instructor). He's 72 and I still would not want any part of this man in a fight. He works out daily and I bet could take most guys 1/2 his age without much effort. He taught hand to hand combat for several years and was a jump instructor. He has some crazy ass number like 1,500 jumps. Tons of respect for any of the special forces guys.

I'd be willing to bet your neighbor and any SEAL at that age could take down 95% of guys half their age. Hell, they could kill us with their bare hands before we even threw a punch

Let's not jump the gun here. 72-year-old SEALS and Green Berets cannot kill 95% of 36-year-old men with their bare hands. Look, I have all the respect for SEALS and Green Berets but they would still be 72 and let's not assume they all stay in phenomenal shape because they don't long after they retire.

A guy one year older than me in highschool. As I remeber he was very smart and a decent wrestler...long and lanky. I bumped into him at a get toghether a few years back. Alomost the same type of guy as back in school except he now seemed very serious to me...back in school he was a goof-ball. Impressive person overall and I am thankful for him and all the people in service.

If I were a gambling man, and I am, I'd bet everything I can get my hands on they could whoop the shit out of and kill everybody in this thread, including you.

Can someone post what the training is? I know part of it but not all.

Gotta say though, they go throigh all of that while millionare athletes act like 2 a days are killers. Such bullshit.

Guy I somewhat know who again is a friend of a friend of a friend spent most of his early life in gym (because of dad) and basically built like a senior in hs as a freshman in hs with great speed. He basically doesn't talk about it.
