So over the last several months I have become obsessed with Belgian style beers-they are the best in the world hands down.
I used to always see the emo-nerd type drinking these things and I thought they were just trying to be retro and awesome.
But these things are actually awesome
I also got perked up to quality beers after viewing the thread on Westvleteren 12 ($50/beer if you can find it-which you can't).
Extremely difficult to drink light beers now. Weddings would be the only exception.

any one who drinks the gmo big brand beers do not know what they are missing with these craft beers.
bottom line - yes expensive, hard to find, less bloated, less pissing, faster buzz, better ingredients, more flavorful than a pissed down loaded up genetically modified beer- (colored goat jizz in a bottle).

Go to Rate beer and find a local brewery, Some of the best are in the midwest - 3 floyds, founders, Bells- all top rated beers

Chimay is ridiculously overpriced.

Keep it local, support your local microbreweries.

You are correct sir.
The best local...which you can't find in Texas for me is:

Abita...of the Abbey Ale sort.

i havent had the ones you mentioned in the thread. it resembled a dogfish 120 but much better believe it or not. its was fruity like a 120minute but incredibly smooth. the taste was really good, id love to have another one down the road.

there is a bar outside boston that is big on the belgian beers called the publick house. im gonna check it out sometime with some friends

my buddy is a big beer fan and he has been raving about the Stone Enjoy By IPA's. i havent been able to find one yet. thats on my list of beers to try when the weather gets nicer.
