Anyone know where Chef Tony went? Formerly of Ponte Veccio, then Il Ritorno, then 3 Scalini...

I heard he is around the Museo Nacional...but I would appreciate more info, if possible.

Thanks!

I thought he owned Tres Scalini? I haven't been around in a while, did something happen there? I must have missed something.

The economy of Costa Rica took its toll on tre scallini.....one of many restaurants in the area....too bad because it was one of my favorites and Tony always treated his customers well as did the staff....

The Rent was super high in lindora. Have heard great reviews of the new place downtown. Same menu prices etc. Sucks having to drive downtown though.

Rent in Lindora is the reason why nothing lasts in that area. It's amazing anyone has the stones to even attempt to make things work there.

Sorry to hear. Tony was always hospitable and good with customers. I guess trying to cater to his "high end" crowd and move to their side of town was a bad move. Should have stayed put where he was. I never had a problem traveling to see Tony and seeing different people that I would see every day in Santa Ana.

On a related Lindora note (and take this with a grain of salt, it came from a Costa Rica "realtor") I was told by someone who was showing my home that even AutoMercado was threatening leaving at one point. Apparently the land lord re-worked their lease as they knew without them as an anchor the whole plaza (and probably street) would turn into a lifeless area.

Again, I can't say if that's true or not. A "realtor" told me that.....and I've heard some serious whoppers that all start with realtors.

its not just the economy or the rent amounts....the traffic SUCKS, I worked in Forum 1 year and I went to eat at lindora like 2 or 3 times ....once I got out of Forum....and then the traffic was totally stopped at the bridge.......it was soooooo bad that after 30 mins of barely moving I simply returned to the office !

Traffic is just brutal.....and one can forget about the back way to Belen and Alajuela it is completely jammed. However a "realtor" ( I am in the lending biz myself ) told me that there are permits to make a strait shot right through to the airport at the Panansonic "T" intersection. However given the tico time and general complacency along with world cup qualifying, festivals in Liberia and Puntarenas, Tope, and of course the "Clasico" if we see it in our lifetime..........thank God for the chicas!!

SS, I was a huge fan of Ponte Veccio in San pedro way back in the day. Help a brother out on location, Rhapsodia, Ambassador, Mercedes, Children's hospital............Lubnan? thanks!

Ponte Veccio, that's old school. On that note, is L'Anchora still around?

It appears Chef Tony has moved on once again. He is no longer apart of Sapore Trattoria.

Yet another reminder why I don't check in here much anymore.

Every time I stop by it's bad news. El Juez passing and this Canadian guy murder. TOT closing. Last but not least, Tony out of work again? How is this possible? I understand the closing of the Santa Ana location, that stood no chance to begin with. But if he hasn't surfaced elsewhere, wtf is he doing?
