Officiating ruining college basketball

It's awful. Ridiculous rules, which are even tougher to enforce. Now the reviews of every elbow. And the obsession with the offensive foul calls.

Turning into the nfl with the reviews.

And the inconsistency of the calls. They'll call a handcheck 25ft from the basket, then allow rugby.

Foul.....foul.....foul.....foul.... guy gets ran over no call...... handcheck foul.

They are making the games unwatchable.

How about the other 40+ games thus far?

one of the worst tournaments i've seen. teams cant make a shot (see the numerous 6-12 minute stretches without a fg) , officials cant make a call. robinson III literally has jersey torn off yet refs dont call any fouls on those plays, they decide to wait for a handcheck. even the close games havent really been well played (both marquette games come to mind). gonzaga game turns on a freaking lane violation. creighton almost loses to cincy due to a ridiculous flagrant on mcdermott because of an elbow (anything looks worse then slowed down and reviewed 1000 times). terrible call vs iowa st on the charge. and i also think the pod system needs to go away. teams shouldnt be playing virtual home games.

i love college hoops more than anything, but the last few days havent been good.

I'll be honest. I don't get the appeal of college basketball.

What was that game last year where the refs ruined the ending? Anyone remember? The refs walked out before the game was even over.

I've been saying this for years. The style of play follows what the officiating will allow. The NBA began the destruction of team-oriented basketball 25 years ago with all of the traveling and physical play. This allowed individual, offensive play to become more important than team concepts. College ball followed with the same rule changes and officiating style, and now we have what is on the tube today: no post offenses, no screens, no cutting, all dribble-drive crap and one-on-one offense.

Good riddance.

the blown charge call decides the iowa st game
the elbowing foul on mcdermott should have cost Creighton the game
the missed charge and subsequent 3 plus flagrant 1 completely changed the Wichita st game

if officiating is so bad and the game is in so much decline, why are ratings sky high for the nba and ncaa basketball?

the only people whining about this are these white males who only like hockey and think there sport is god, yet it gets beat by martha stewart re runs and nba pregame shows.

Not trying to criticize or anything but it seems like pretty much every sport you think is in decline. NBA, NFL, CBB....I mean damn.

The officiating is equally bad every year, IMO. And this fact magnifies by 20x when you have a couple bucks on a spread.

many of these calls you can have 2 people sitting next to each other, one will say its a foul, the other will say its not.

exactly......especially if they both took the opp sides....:)

( not to mention we get the benefit of replays from 4 different angles, and slow motion )
