The Pittsburgh Steelers told linebacker James Harrison that the team has no plans to re-sign him, a source told The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Harrison, 34, was cut by the Steelers on March 9 after he refused to take a pay cut. The five-time Pro Bowl player was scheduled to make $6.57 million in 2013.

Harrison has received very little interest in free agency, and he was taking a free-agent visit in Baltimore on Sunday when the Ravens agreed to terms with Elvis Dumervil.

Harrison's agent told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter that he hasn't closed the door on his client returning to Pittsburgh.

The leading candidate to replace Harrison is Jason Worilds, a 2009 second-round pick.

I believe that Jason Worilds is chomping at the bit to prove he is capable of being that," Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said last week at the NFL owners meetings.

Harrison isn't what he used to be, I would like to see one of their young up and coming stars step into his shoes. The steelers are getting old on both sides of the ball, and I think this is a step in the right direction to rebuild before total collapse

it was time for him to go...but you're right, they're getting old...everywhere. i don't foresee a very fun season to watch.

Right or wrong, it’s the Steelers way.

Their way or the highway.

Next up, Woodley, if he doesn’t produce. Same goes for Polamalu if he can’t stay healthy.

woodley is in no trouble, he is our best LB. but you're right, it always was the steeler way. polamalu is near the end of his tenure, can't stay healthy.

Based on last years play I think their best linebacker was Timmons.

Woodley took the year off. Not only was his sack total lousy but teams ran at him and Hood, and quite successfully I might add.

I’m waiting to see how the draft unfolds since they did little in free agency. Bringing back Gay, Spaeth and signing Gradkowski doesn’t get my heart beating faster.

So far my expectations for this year are they’ll be lucky to make the playoffs. I hope I’m wrong.
