Two 45 minutes halves, clock runs up probably for the same reason everyone uses the metric system.......extra time is for injuries/flopping/writhing on the ground as if you have been shot in the nards......out of bounds and other assorted stuff.

Same metric system analogy........they might stop and start on the side line, and just give a general time to the ref for extra minutes.

official clocks run up so you know when an event happened

a goal scored at the 5 min mark of the game is not listed as 40 min left in the 1st half

only ameriacan sports run the clock backwards

To tie Mexico at home with a depleted squad is the same as the Kings beating Miami by 20 at home next week.............

Appeared the us was playing for the tie. Mexican goalie didn't break a sweat.

I wouldn't go that far. A USA win would've been the equivalent of the Kings winning at Miami by 20.

In soccer the clock is never stopped.

When a half is ending, the referee choose the losed time (with substitutions, foul kicks around the area, and other factors) and add it. This is the extra time.

Mexico is overrated.

Good players but don't play well as a team and stink on set pieces both on attack and defending.
