Why do people who "Get High" feel the need to show it off and let everyone know about it?

I see so many people talking about it like its the coolest thing to do, they put "420" stickers all over, they have it in their screen names on the internet and emails and such.... Whats the big deal about it?

Does it somehow make them think they are being cool to their peers? Why not just do it, instead of flaunting it. No one really cares if you do it lol... don't see the need to flaunt it everywhere.

Its a great movie based on an American icon. . . Does it mean I'm showing off that I'm smoking weed? Have I ever told anyone I smoke?

Bragging about 420 and smoking is childish and dumb. Doesn't make you cool that you do. However, supporting NORML and legalization isn't. Hemp as a cash crop could be the answer our economy is looking for...

I'm for legalization of it as I feel it isn't harmful as a recreational drug... even tho I don't use it myself. Just curious as to why it gets flaunted around so much

To raise even more awareness to the issue of legalization, this has become one of the most ridicule things humanity and especially the US has enforced. Not everybody is as open mnded as you, it is an urgent issue, people is going to jail for this costing governments millions of dollars for keeping those prisoners instead of making extra revenue and further investigate this drug as a possible cure for certain types of cancer.

To be fair, some flaunt it, some don't. Anything that's even remotely taboo is considered "badass" to some folks. I've known guys in my life that brag constantly about cheating on their wives, drinking too much and driving, treating people like shit, etc. Some people think they have extra "swag" if they wear a pot leaf on a chain around their neck. And some want extra swag so they tatoo "GAME OVER" on their eye lids. On the other hand, you also have people, even on this site, that brag about going on a 5 game run or graduating from a high level college. 2 things are true: 1. Douchebaggery comes in all forms. 2. No one cares except other idiots.

In addition though, drugs are a part of people's lives and some actually use weed for decent purposes - medical, creativity, expanding their consciousness, etc. When people use it these ways and want to talk to you about it, it's just like anything in anyone's life that is improving their life.
