Got carded a couple of years ago at a concert (just local stips) but not at a grocery store or liquor store.

I am 31 and get carded for cigs from time to time, and I look old for my age. Full beard and everything.

Last year I was on my way home from a visitation; had a full suit on, full beard, etc. and I got carded for cigarettes. I was like "if there is a 17 year old walking around town in a full suit with a beard give the kid his cigs..."

I dont understand carding me. What is the rule? 30? I know i dont look 30. And casinos are what? 40? If i take my hat off i am gray. Went gray at 16, full gray by 25. Grandpa was gray early too.

Age is in they eye if the beholder, i guess.

What type place was it ?

Aconcert at an auditorium or even a street festival they card everybody , but a grocery store or something like that should be able to tell old balls like yours. ... but if it was a public event or something its just policy old balls young balls , they gonna check balls.

The policy most stores have is 35 or 40 I believe, definitely not younger. I've read articles where the police and the alcohol commission sometimes engage in sting operations where they get an older looking 19-20 year old to go around and attempt to buy alcohol. When clerks sell it to them, they slap the clerk and the store with a hefty fine.

Here is one I just found now on google :>(

http://www.redding.com/news/2011/feb/04/four-redding-clerks-cited-selling-alcohol-minor/

I'd imagine most clerks would card anyone who doesn't look at least 40 just to be safe.

Now that i think about it , it was a jeff dunham show not a concert , and i got pissed off b/c i could tell 6 persons in front of me that the guy was carding ecerybody , but the 35 year old biotch in front of me made a big deal about being carded and then wanted to thank the bartender for carding her , and i'm like "come on bitch , hes carding people in wheelchairs , just show your id and keep the line moving.

I didnt want to see that shit anyway , just went to make the wife happy.

the US is the only country in the World out of the 25 or so I've been to that consistently engages in this ridiculous practice.

The last time the bartender even said "HA! he is younger than me!" (I would have never guessed , the poor thing looked at least 45 :p )

Last time I got carded I was 41, 60% grey hair and 3 days worth of facial hair at an OCharley's. Plopped down at the bar, ordered a beer, guy says, "can I see some ID?" I started busting out laughing at him and made some silly comment that I can't remember and then I look at him again and he is just staring right at me, clearly annoyed I had made that comment. I said, holy shit you were serious, apologized and showed him my license.

Are you already in Tennessee (saw your Nashville question)?

if so, they card everyone regardless. You could walk into a gas station at 95 years old and you will get carded. State law.

Yes I do get carded still about 20% of the time.
The percentage goes up to about 50% when I get a haircut.
