seems like the price is so "reasonable" because there is so much room for snake oil sales in the middle.. some naive people buy it so high priced I bet...

The resell of these makes me wonder... but those "yearly maintenance" fee of $800+ makes me question....

I have always been a firm non-believer in timeshares.....to the point where i won't even listen.

i have a bunch of friends that got some disney timeshares recently and i'm starting to think maybe i better hear the sales pitch before jumping to conclusions

If they were a good deal, they wouldn't have to beg people to listen to a sales pitch. I've never met a single person that has recommended a timeshare. I've met lots that say it was a horrible decision.

everybody I know who has one is now looking to dump it. My mother-in-law wanted to give me her time share in Hilton Head. We just had to pay fro the transfer fees. Then locked into a lifetime of yearly fees......I said thanks but no thanks. Think about it 15-20k per week. 52 weeks per year they just got 1 million for a condo or house that cost like 250k in hilton head...sounds like a good deal? Then you pay $1000/year in fees.

For all intents and purposes you do "own" it but can only use it a few times year. My family has one through Marriott. Undbelievably nice suites. How ours works is we can trade ours with other people througout the world. Every year we trade for a different location. Once its bought you have it forever. When you die you leave it to someone else.
Honestly we all love it. We know for a fact we are taking 2 weeks worth of vacation a year. We sometimes split the weeks up. You can even factor airfare into the trades.
Also the cost of the place is way less than the cost of a "renter".
It is definetly not for everyone but we love it. The places are usually so big we do an open invite to extended family to stay for 2-3 nights. Everyone know they can at least get away a few days no matter what.

I know families that always get together every year for Timeshare time; and this makes it an event everyone has to go to; and helps familiy unity; otherwise; it is the maintenance fees that do go up over time; that really make them a questionable deal...gl

i know someone who bought into a couple in vegas. never understood why, especially with one being a block off the strip.

not sure why you'd spend a few grand to then pay yearly fees to use it, when you can just book a room at any hotel you want for almost the same price, probably less, if you gamble.
