[FONT=Verdana,Sans-serif]And that is being nice! You brainless human scum is a bit better. Greinke opens the season with a terrific game for LAD and is pitching well at San Diego, again going deep into the game..probably another complete game and now this???

You idiot...you moron. How did you have the brains to get to the majors? Do you really think a pitcher is going to intentionally hit you on a 3-2 pitch on a one run game???

Who knows if Greinke will ever be the same pitcher again. I do not know if it is better that he broke his left collarbone...I suppose so for a right-handed pitcher but damn...this was so stupid and unnecessary.

SAN DIEGO (AP) - Zack Greinke had his left arm in a sling and a dazed look on his face as he told his side of the story. Barely two hours before, the $147 million Dodgers pitcher was injured in a wild fight with the San Diego Padres that didn't even end when the game did.
Greinke broke his left collarbone in a bench-clearing brawl during Los Angeles' 3-2 victory Thursday night, leaving the Dodgers so furious that Matt Kemp confronted Padres slugger Carlos Quentin nose-to-nose as the two were leaving Petco Park.
Juan Uribe's pinch-hit home run in the eighth put the Dodgers ahead, two innings after Greinke hit Quentin on the left shoulder with a pitch.
The slugger started walking toward the mound and Greinke appeared to say something. The 6-foot-2, 240-pound Quentin then charged the 2009 AL Cy Young Award winner, who is 6-2 and 195 pounds. They dropped their shoulders and collided, and Quentin tackled the pitcher to the grass.

Quentin and Greinke ended up at the bottom of a huge scrum as players from both sides ran onto the field and jumped in.Dodgers manager Don Mattingly was livid, saying it shouldn't have happened because Quentin was hit on a 3-2 pitch in a one-run game.
"That's just stupid is what it is," Mattingly said. "He should not play a game until Greinke can pitch. If he plays before Greinke pitches, something's wrong. He caused the whole thing. Nothing happens if he goes to first base."

i didn't see this last night but woke up this morning in shock. every year there are early season injuries that change the entire season and this is one of them. I really doubt greinke will be back for a few months, and probably not at the level he has been at. Really wish there was one more game in this series though because you can bet your ass Quentin has got some retaliation coming.

I think this will have a huge effect on baseball rules as every sport is concerned with player safety... had Grienke not been injured like this, not as big of a deal naturally, but to have an injury of a highly paid stud pitcher in this fashion, is awful for the sport... be careful selig

I know that contracts are not supposed to be taken into account but damn...147 million! And so unnecessary. Quentin says that he is hit more than any other hitter in the bigs, so he had to retaliate.

HEY BRANIAC...DID IT OCCUR TO YOU THAT THE PROBLEM MAY BE WITH YOUR STANCE IN THE BOX? In almost every case, the MLB player who is hit the most crowds the plate and takes the hit in order to get on base.

Did you guys hear Kemp went looking for Quentin in the parking lot??

"Dodgers slugger Matt Kemp, ejected following the fight, confronted Quentin as they were leaving Petco Park after the game. The two went nose-to-nose briefly before Padres pitcherClayton Richard stepped between them. Police and security broke it up."

"I think Carlos Quentin went to Stanford, something like that?" Kemp said. "I heard there's smart people at Stanford. That wasn't too smart. Greinke didn't do anything wrong. That stuff happens in the minor leagues. It doesn't happen in the big leagues."

I hope Kemp clocks him cold.

people charging the mound isn't a farfetched situation. nobody would care if greinke wasn't hurt.

Pretty sure the Dodgers just signed Anderson Silva to throw at Carlos Quentin next week, good luck charging the mound there.

Simple solution make it like basketball- you leave the dugout your suspended. The worst are the pitchers that have to trot in all the way from the bullpen to get in on the fun... I bet team owners love seeing all their players mixing it up in these scrums... They have to do something, watching the home plate ump walk around pointing fingers warning players and benches is just plain stupid at this point. As a fan I would be pissed since obviously high paid contracts have to be made up somewhere and that is usually in the ticket prices.

it would have been different if it were altuve or pedroia charging the mound

But the big difference is Altuve or Pedroia wouldn't charge the mound in that situation since their IQ is over 68. 3-2 pitch in a one run game and breaks Grienke's collarbone. What a F***ing idiot...

I watched the video clip several times and it shows Grienke walking off the field. I broke my collarbone playing football and it was also dislocated. Judging by the way he was walking I don't think his was dislocated. If that is the case then his recoup time will be around 6 weeks but some rehab may be required.

I think Quentin should be disciplined and should spend each and every day he misses on the platform of a dunk tank without any netting or protection. Donate the money to charity, could make a lot of money for a worthy cause. lol

Just for discussion's sake; how does a pitcher of Greinke's ability throw a pitch that badly. It wasn't just a little off the plate it was a lot off the plate. It should also be noted when we are talking stupid here it was Greinke that said something to Quentin before he charged at him. Dumb goes both ways. By the way that's not the first time he's hit Quentin.
