PITTSBURGH (AP) — Cincinnati second baseman Brandon Phillips will miss Saturday night’s game against the Pittsburgh Pirates because of what Reds manager Dusty Baker termed a “family matter.”
Baker said Phillips might also miss Sunday’s game, the finale of the three-game series.
Phillips hit two home runs Friday as the Reds lost to the Pirates 6-5. He is hitting .318 with team-leading four homers and 10 RBIs in 10 games.
Cesar Izturis was scheduled to play second base Saturday night.
