Wednesday: 2-2 +.1 units. Just kind of washing around .500 lately, or a little worse. But that's better than getting hammered in one day, which happens too. Haven't had one of those - 7 or -8 unit days yet, which is a good thing.
Reds -1 (-109). 3 units. Why am I going against Miami phenom Jose Fernandez? He has been nothing short of amazing so far in his first 2 starts. Granted, he had only pitched at A ball last year, and this is a big jump. Matt Harvey, Price, Sale and all the great new young pitchers though had to suffer some bumps along the way. The total on this game, to me , is revealing at 8. The Reds are throwing their own young stud out there, Tony Cingrani. This guy looks every bit as good as Fernandez. He got a short call up last year, and pitched well. In AAA he has toyed with the competition, 14 IPs, 2BBs, 26 Ks and 3 hits. I expect him to pitch as well against the almost AAA Miami lineup. How bad is Miami's lineup? They have Polanco batting 3rd, a guy who had 19 RBIs last year in 303 ABs . Their hitting .190 in the past week, with one HR, and a slugging pct. of .245. The Reds have a far superior lineup and bullpen and they're at home. The Reds also play better defense. The total at 8 tells me that Vegas expects this to NOT be a 2-1 type of game, but a close, low scoring game until Hernandez gets pulled in the 6th, and the Reds batter the Miami bullpen. Another reason I like this is that young pitchers, even mediocre ones, that come up usually pitch well their first outing- if they have some poise- which Cingrani does. I've seen this so many times.
Reds RL. One unit (+135)
