Did I miss something? Is there now a charity for fat American failed sports bar owners?

God father trying to scoop up TOT patrons in the name of charity. I really doubt you will have much success attracting gringos with Karaoke and a mexican DJ.

LMAO... According to the Tico Times, TOT was shut down for a number of reasons, including not having valid health and safety permits and an expired liquor license and no adequate parking. Of course the municipality, who is actually doing their job, is now the scapegoat by the TOT clowns who are now the 'victims' for not being able to do what is necessary to run the day to day operation of a business. Many saw this coming from miles away.

The municipality has never been kind to Gringo ownership of any sort...they find reasons to fuk with them...but I am sure there is a bit of truth on the part of the ex-owners and the municipality....

Sad to see Time Out go down like that....

Sad to see Time Out go down like that....

they (=municapality....pretty much anyone with power) have been 'told' by the traffic cops that if they shake foreigners enough , they end up paying (And later may even brag about how easy it was to get away with 'xyz')

corruption destroys any sort of society from the very core

anyone who has ever paid a bribe is guilty of these situations

and yeah, regardless of the reason, sad to see them go

On a positive note it gives me great pleasure to say that Carolina is working with us here at Bar Central, her hours are Monday through Saturday from 10am to 6pm feel free to come visit with her.

Bar Central is a nice neighborhood bar with retried and working class patrons. We are open 7 days a week from 11am till 2am, our kitchen hours are from 11am til 1:30am, we have a very simple relaxed atmosphere.

We have 4 flat screen TV's and have been showing the NBA and NHL play offs and all other sporting events BOXING, UFC, etc. We are gearing up for College and NFL as well.

Thanks Mike

Do you have any kind of security at your place?

I keep reading of robberies and muggings in AM Costa Rica...

Hi Viejo,

Hope all has been doing well.

Before I took over Bar Central I went and set down with the chief of police that is in charge of the Escazu area, thank God I have had a good relationship with the local police from working at Time Out Tavern for over 5 yrs. I shared with the police chief that I would be taking over Bar Central and I would like the police to give me support, I also went to the Municipality police which once again I have gotten to know very well and asked the same.

So to answer your question, as far as a employed security guard at the front door or inside the bar, I do not have one. Since I have spoken with both police departments they do drive by daily and nightly, and the police walk into Bar Central and say hello to the locals.

Stop in the next time you are in town it will be nice to see you!

Bar Central is a good gig, with great food and tallboys for 1700 colones. There is usually a smattering of chicas, but I have not been partaken of the atmosphere on Saturday's or the Kareoke nights. All in all it seems that everyone is welcome here and treated well, it is a good mix of locals and gringos.........with great prices to boot.

Hi Seadawg,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

I have been working at keeping a happy medium between Gringos and the Ticos/Nicas. As you mentioned we try to give the best service possible to our customers, from day one I have shared with the girls to cook all the meals as if they were going to serve their own families, a home cooked mind set. Our kitchen is open at 11am till 1:15am so if anyone is hungry and in the Escazu central area stop by and enjoy some very good late night food.
