Why do some posters care so much about their online reputation?

Why do some posters concern themselves so much with their reputation here at the RX? When guys are arguing back and forth you will frequently hear them mention it and it just seems like it means way too much to a lot of RX members (not everyone, just some)

You could take any two posters on this site that hate each other and if they ran into each other at the grocery store they wouldn't be the wiser. If they met at a party or something, they would be perfectly friendly having no clue they are talking to their enemy from the internet.

So, if no one in real life ever knows what your reputation is here, why worry so much about it?

some people concern themselves and some do not..

if you are a true asshole on the forums or if you Lie or worse are a STIFF, you will eventually be vetted out by the RX community I have seen it over the 13 yrs of posting here.. Some STIFFS will actually still post as if they are honest and good guys due to the reasons you state above.

Everybody wants attention.

I remember getting the Kiss Alive 2 record when i was a kid , on the inside sleeve it said "Some people love us and some people hate us , but nobody ignores us".

The difference though is that those people are not anonymous.

And it's not attention i'm talking about. If it was just attention they wouldn't care if it was negative or positive. I'm talking about some people really caring how they are perceived on here.

I think MOST do, the 100+ posters I have met over the years seem to be just as they post.... except the Fishhead goofnut... that guy is crazy do not let him drive you anywhere!

one game our pitchers were all running late...so i warmed up and bitched the whole time....when the first inning started....mother f'ers just rested the bats on their shoulders while I proceeded to walk the first two batters....then a real pitcher came and I got to take an actual position....bastards knew I wasn't a pitcher figured they'd help me out and swing at some close ones

Some maybe, but not all.

For example, I highly doubt festeringzit walks around in real life cussing people out the second they disagree with him.

the manager wants to pitch some this year so when im not pitching I play RS......

yeah our first game the pitcher on other team was so bad he walked the first 3 batters... we could not even reach to hit the ball they were so bad
