Question for those who use Twitter

I'm busting my Twitter cherry, because I want to follow several stock traders. How do I get just their Tweets to show up in my feed? Right now I have their Tweets and everything that they Re-tweet(?).

My initial impression is that Twitter is fucking stupid, but if I can use it to make money I'll bear with it.

How do I prevent people from following me? I had one follower, a person from work when I first signed up for Twitter in 2009 and didn't know what to do so I just blocked her.

change your settings to private - you will have to approve anyone before they can follow u. Also if you dont ever post anything then your followers will never see anything. When you follow someone, whatever they tweet or retweet, it will show up in your feed.

And you are right, there can be some financial benefits to having/using a twitter account

You can also make a list of stock traders...

When you follow one add him to the list

Then you can click on the list and only people on the list show up.

To make a list click on the settings widget on the bar on the top of your twitter page

Again you can make your list private so no one can see you list

I follow over a 1000 ppl on twitter and lists help - ie business partners. Nfl info. restaurants. general media

Yes, that was the first thing I did after I added the traders and I recommend it to everyone. Handy feature.

Have you ever heard of StockTwits?

It's kind of like twitta but solely for stocks. Theres a lot of useful information on there if you can weed through all the BS posts.
