The Civil War A Narrative (3 Volume Set) by Shelby Foote. At over 1000 pages complete a very lengthy 3 Volume Set but a must read though for anyone interested in that era of United States History.

This is as hard as picking a favorite album. I will just throw out "The Turn of the Screw". Henry James 1898. Short novel. Love most of his stuff actually.
